4.0 out of 5 stars Traditional tunes with a twist, August 25, 1999
By A Customer
This review is from: Threesome Reel (Audio CD)
I originally bought this CD because I wanted to hear an original take on some instrumental numbers I was familiar with. Some of these ended up being quite good, but it was the songs that really drew me in. I guess the treatment would be called 'bluesy.' Anachie Gordon is a standout, as is Banks of Ponchartrain. Rockin the Cradle and The Sailor Boy have more subtle arrangements and work very well that way. Some nice fiddle bits as well, including a sly version of Martin Wynne's. A nice debut effort overall.

5.0 out of 5 stars Great Vocals And Fiddle, July 7, 2004

I heard Stuart Martz play The Diamond, Diddle Jigs, Butterfly/Exile and 10,000 Miles live, then I tracked down this album, bought it, and I love listening to it. My favorite songs are Anachie Gordon and Banks of Ponchartrain. Hopefully, someday, I'll get to hear those live too!
