I didn't like this one as much as the first, but it was still a worthy installment.

The plot wasn't as interesting (predictable) and I didn't like Cori very much. To me she was just a "poor little rich girl". Obviously there was a lot more to her than that, but I didn't like her anywhere near as much as Jazz from the first book. Same with Max. Didn't like him...

This review is from: Thrill Me to Death (The Bullet Catchers, Book 2) (Mass Market Paperback)
Thrill Me to Death is an exceptional addition to Roxanne St. Claire's Bullet Catcher series. It's emotionally packed with all sorts of twists, turns and danger not to mention the sensual tension and scenes between the main characters Max and Cori.

If you've read St. Claire's books Max Roper, first appeared in Tropical Getaway, her debut novel. Max left the DEA and followed his best buddy, Dan to the security and personal protection business as a Bullet Catcher. Max also makes an appearance in the first book of the series, KILL ME TWICE One gets the impression that Max is not only handsome and strong but shows absolutely no emotion. Wrong..... in this book, the reader will absolutely fall in love with this man who keeps to himself, holds back and will soon have the answers revealed in his past.

Enter Cori Peyton, Max's Bullet Catcher assignment. Max is assigned to protect Cori and is hired to be her bodyguard and security expert. They have a past history, at one time they were in love and hoped to marry. However, things happened and Cori ended up marrying an older millionaire who has died and his death is being questioned and Cori's now in possible danger. Max is to sort this out and put all personal feelings aside.

I enjoyed THRILL ME TO DEATH due to the danger, the cast of characters and of course the romance. Max and Cori's love story is so full of passion and tension and how they find their way back to each other is an emotional rollercoaster ride. There are so many twists and turns to this very exciting romance/suspense and again St. Claire has written a winner!

There are other interesting characters, her stepson, attorney, best friend Breezy and a cast of other Bullet Catcher's. This is a book I've been waiting for since I read KILL ME TWICE and I wasn't disappointed. I can't wait for the next in this Bullet Catcher series. Again, Roxanne St.Claire has written an entertaining and steamy story, just in time for the beach!

5.0 out of 5 stars Thrill Me To Death, July 22, 2006
This review is from: Thrill Me to Death (The Bullet Catchers, Book 2) (Mass Market Paperback)
Max is a bodyguard. He works for the Bullet Catchers Bodyguard Service. His current assignment is guarding Corinne Peyton. Cori's husband, billionaire William Peyton, died three months ago but Cori doesn't believe it was from natural causes. Max has been told to not only guard Cori, but to find out as well if she could have killed her husband. The fact that he and Cori were once lovers may or may not be an advantage.

Cori is in danger. Discovering who the threat is proves difficult though. Cori's stepson Billy is harassing her, and someone has tried to kill her once already. Some of her friends are acting strangely as well. Max and Cori discover a suspicious signature and they start an investigation of their own. The more they discover, the more questions they have.

As they get closer to figuring out who killed William and why, Cori discovers the truth about why her relationship with Max truly ended. If they can't find the killer before he finds Cori, they may lose the last chance at a life together.

Thrill Me To Death is fantastic! It's sexy and thrilling. I was completely engrossed from start to finish. Cori and Max are very loving and passionate together. Max is gorgeous and all alpha male. Cori is beautiful, kind and generous.

Thrill Me To Death is an excellent romantic suspense story. It kept me guessing until the end, and the romance is hot and sweet.

The Bullet Catcher Series:

Kill Me Twice

Thrill Me To Death

Take Me Tonight

Roxanne St. Claire has me hooked. Her hero characters, known as The Bullet Catchers, are incredible. Each has a unique personality, an interesting past, and a noble heart. None would hesitate to sacrifice himself for his client. These men are intelligent and powerful, yet still ordinary guys who make each other laugh with good- natured taunting.

St. Claire really hit a home run with "Thrill Me To Death". Her Bullet Catcher, Max Roper, has everything that makes a woman melt. Not only is he towering in size, he has a big heart as well. His friends and clients don't see it, because he hides behind a "tough guy" facade. His one true love left him 5 years ago, taking the laughter from his soul and the smile from his face.

Now Max has been assigned the job of protecting the very woman who turned his heart upside- down. His hardest task is keeping his feelings out of the picture. However when the two see each other, 5 years melt away as if they had never parted. Both are wary of rekindling their relationship, but their need for one another is undeniable. Max, known as "Mad Max" to his fellow Bullet Catchers, is brought to knees. He finds himself throwing caution to the wind, confessing to Cori that he accepted the assignment of protecting her because he never stopped loving her. Although Cori had pushed herself to move on by marrying a different man after their break- up, she admits to Max that she thought of him every single day.

Cori is caught in a web of lies. All of the people who matter in her life eventually become suspects in the murder of her late husband. That same murderer is now targeting Cori. After losing both her father and Max 5 years ago, Cori clings to every friend she has. She can't believe that any of them could be a killer. Max must keep her close to guard her life as he works to solve the mystery. The thought of losing her again is unbearable.

I never wanted to put this book down. Not only were the characters and the love story great, but the mystery was excellent as well. St. Claire kept me guessing. It has been a very long time since I read a crime story that was not predictable. Every time I thought I had figured out who the murderer was, she threw in twists that changed my mind. I was enthralled with this tale. I can't wait to read the next in the series!

Roxanne St. Claire writes another thriller in her Bullet Catcher Series... Thrill Me To Death.

5.0 out of 5 stars POKER, ANYONE? YOU'LL NEVER THINK OF THE GAME IN THE SAME WAY AGAIN ONCE YOU READ THIS BOOK!, August 8, 2006
This review is from: Thrill Me to Death (The Bullet Catchers, Book 2) (Mass Market Paperback)
Once again, Roxanne St. Claire has delivered on her promise to readers: THRILL ME TO DEATH is a superb thrilling read! The 2nd in her Bullet Catchers series, Ms. St. Claire weaves a deftly braided story of murder, money and intrigue mixed with sultry Florida nights. Max Roper is the bodyguard with a chest of steel and a heart of gold who's accepted the mission of protecting Cori Cooper Peyton, the one woman from his past who can bring him to his knees with the mere hint of her smile ... or a deck of cards. Wow! Who know poker could be so much fun?
THRILL ME TO DEATH is a page-turner, and I couldn't put it down. The ending left me breathless, and anxious for Lucy Sharpe to assign the next case in the Bullet Catcher series.
Kudos, Ms. St. Claire, for thrilling your readers to death!

4.0 out of 5 stars fast-paced romantic suspense thriller, July 25, 2006
This review is from: Thrill Me to Death (The Bullet Catchers, Book 2) (Mass Market Paperback)
Twenty-eight years old widow Corinne "Cori" Cooper Peyton inherited billions when her elderly spouse William died. Though she misses her late husband as she loved him dearly, she enjoys her work as the administrator of The Peyton Foundation, a philanthropic wing of powerful Peyton Enterprises. The Foundation provides financial and legal assistance to surviving family member of law enforcement officers killed in the line of duty.

When someone tries to kill Cori, she turns to her friend Lucy Sharpe, owner of Bullet Catchers, a firm that provides bodyguards and personnel security experts. Lucy assigns Max Roper to keep Cori safe and ascertain whether someone murdered William, who officially died of a heart attack. Five years ago Max and Cori were lovers before her father died and she dumped him to marry William. Both Cori and Max wonder if resentment will curtail his effectiveness as her unknown adversary still wants her dead.

The second Bullet Catcher tale (see KILL ME TWICE), THRILL ME TO DEATH, is a fast-paced romantic suspense thriller that once it accelerates (about a fifth of the way in), the plot never slows down until the final thrilling confrontation. Readers will enjoy this woman in peril story line because of the changing relationship between the lead characters as the initial professional-client interaction becomes a loving keep her safe at all cost connection while the support cast adds tension and drama as the audience wonders who wants Cori dead.

4.0 out of 5 stars Enjoyable Read, July 1, 2007
This review is from: Thrill Me to Death (The Bullet Catchers, Book 2) (Mass Market Paperback)
The first thing readers should realize is that even though this book is second in the Bullet Catcher series, it is also a stand alone novel. Well written romantic suspense. The only reason it didn't get five stars from me was that there were not enough red herrings in the plot, making the reveal predictable in my opinion. Romance was plentiful though for readers looking for a little more sex in their novels than the typical Romantic suspense.

Max Roper is given a difficult assignment; be the bodyguard for his ex-fiance. He hasn't seen her since she ran away claiming he killed her father and she would never forgive him. Yet, she wasted no time in finding herself a new extemely wealthy husband, who just happened to have died three months earlier leaving her a sizeable fortune and a great deal of power. It's Max's job not only to protect her from whomever is trying to threaten her, but to find out if she killed her husband. The only problem is that he isn't sure if he can get her to confide in him without getting too close in the process and opening up a world of emotions locked to the past. Someone wants her out of the way. Will Max be able to protect her, or will she suffer the same fate as her father?

Is it worth buying?

Yes. Either as part of the series or just for someone wanting to read a good contemporary romance novel. Suspense is carefully strung out to pull the reader along. Just don't expect a surprise ending. Hope that helps a little with the decision.

4.0 out of 5 stars This bullet is gold!, March 8, 2007
By
This review is from: Thrill Me to Death (The Bullet Catchers, Book 2) (Mass Market Paperback)
When her father is killed in a DEA bust gone bad, a guilt ridden Cori blames her lover, DEA agent Max Roper and dumps him. Several years later, the two are reunited when Cori hires an elite bodyguard group to provide protection while she investigates the possible murder of her much older wealthy husband. No one is more surprised than Cori when she discovers that Max is the man who is sworn to protect her. But who will protect Cori's heart from the only man she's ever really loved, who's assigned to both protect her and determine if she had a role in her husband's murder?

Full of sizzling love scenes and great bantering between the two protagonists, St. Claire's second entry in the Bullet Catcher series has equal parts romance, intrigue, and sensuality to sustain the reader's attention and waiting impatiently for the next intallment in the series. But I could have done without the epilogue, which added nothing at all to the story (in fact, I found it detracted). Too many authors are using them to do nothing but plug their next book.

5.0 out of 5 stars Can I have a Bullet Catcher, Please?, September 13, 2006
This review is from: Thrill Me to Death (The Bullet Catchers, Book 2) (Mass Market Paperback)
KILL ME TWICE left me with a craving for cuban coffee and a profound yearning for a hunk wearing `nothing but a sinful smile' to whisper sweet - Spanish - nothings in my ear. I wasn't sure anything could top that book, but Roxanne St. Claire has outdone herself in THRILL ME TO DEATH, the second in her Bullet Catcher series. What reader can resist the story of a giant of a man with `carved-from-granite features' who hides his broken heart behind a stoic façade that cracks when he comes face-to-face with his latest principal? In THRILL ME TO DEATH, Roxanne spins another of those intricately woven and multi-layered plots that have become her trademark, and she does it in a fast-paced, suspense-filled, sexy story that leaves the reader breathless and panting for more.
