Thrill of Perfection? Yep!, September 21, 2010
First let me say I am 25yrs old and a huge Rick(y) Nelson fan, so when I found out his youngest son had Rock/ALT career, I had to know more! I did some research and found and purchased "Thrill of Escape" by H is Orange. I wont lie, I didn't expect much. I expected to like it, but a lot in part to wanting to support Rick's son. BOY WAS I WRONG. This is a fantastic CD. It's one of the cd's you can listen to every song and not want to skip a track. I know every word to every song in less than a week, simply because I leave it on whenever I'm at my computer/in car. I am not a music connoisseur but I will say that Sam (the lead singers) voice is very unique and really fits this style, and the band supporting him is serious. Better than anything on the radio, but you already knew that.
Cliffs: Get this damn CD.

An ok album, and dissapointing packaging., January 31, 2010
This review is from: Thrill of Escape (Audio CD)
I love h is orange, they are my (second) favorite band. I found out about them through one of my favorite movies (May, which "The Propeller Plane Crash" was on). I gathered enough money to buy all 3 available albums (there is technically two "true" h is orange albums, Be Silent and Know/EP and Don't Trust the easy, and one from Sam's solo project). I was blown away by all 3 albums. Everything is amazing, they are really well written and well played. I was really excited for this to come out - it is their first (physical) release in basically 5 years (they had something called the B-Sides, which as far as I know, was only released online for free) , and so I bought it. I put it into my computer and listened to it, and I was really disappointed. To me, they felt like they were trying to be like more popular bands (i.e. ones that play on alt rock stations constantly that are pretty much just cookie cutter songs). It overall feels very polished (to me, at least), unlike the others. There is one notable song (aside from the "remakes" of Thrill of Escape and Company You Keep) on here that is really good though, Let the Song Sing.
Also, about the packaging. I was also disappointed to see it packaged in a slim cd case (the ones where you can't see the sides), with only a leaflet for a cover, that did not include lyrics. It feels very out of place on my shelf.
