4.0 out of 5 stars An Entertaining, and Easy version of Roller Coaster Tycoon, December 1, 2006
= Fun:4.0 out of 5 stars
This review is from: Thrillville (Video Game)
Many theme park games have came out in the past years, but none of them have been up to par (In my opinion...) with the "Roller Coaster Tycoon" series. Before I bought this game, I read about it. One of the things that caught my attention was that you could talk to the guests. "That sounds cool.", I thought. So, I ordered it and when it came to my house and I stuck it in my PS2, I was pretty impressed! Not only do you get to build rides, but you can do SO much more.

-Build CollerCoasters from scratch or build a "pre-made" one. (Simillar to "Roller Coaster Tycoon".) Although, your Roller Coasters do not have to be realistic at all. You don't need lift hills and you don't have to make sure the ride won't fly off the track if it goes to fast because, well it won't. It's completely non-violent.
-Build game stalls, which YOU can play yourself to earn extra money for your park. You can also play these games with the guests, OR you can play them in Multi-Player mode with your friends.
-Talk to the guests! You can ask about your park, what needs to be improved, what they like about it. You can also just chat with them about different things and build your relationship. (After you build your relationship with a person, you can also flirt with them. Which is sort of weird, but entertaining.) You can also play match-maker with the guests. The whole point of this is so that the "teenagers" are happier, come to your park more, spend more money, etc.

Overall, this a fun game, which isn't TOO challenging. There's stuff you keep you busy -like playing at the game stalls- while your waiting for some extra cash to roll in. But it shouldn't be too hard to make money, as playing games earns you some dough, and you'll be doing a lot of that. Kids over 10 will probably enjoy it, because it DOES deal with money, the amount of energy needed for a ride, that sort of thing. (And it DOES have flirting, as I mentioned before.) Kids under 10 might have a problem with all the money managment. But if they can play Roller Coaster Tycoon, then they can definatly play this.

Bottom line, this is a great game for anyone who enjoys games like the Sims, Roller Coaster Tycoon, and mini games.

5.0 out of 5 stars Lots of Fun, Without the Headaches of Rollercoaster Tycoon, July 10, 2007

I enjoyed Rollercoaster Tycoon when it first arrived, but having to deal with coasters flying off the track, worrying about financing new rides or coasters, customer's nausea levels etc. got tiresome. I just wanted to have fun building coasters. I've tried several other amusement park themed games over the years, but none really captured my attention. I picked up "Thrillville" for my 9 year old son, and hoped it wouldn't be too difficult for him play as Rollercoaster Tycoon was. When he first started playing the game he asked me to help him build a coaster....and that is all it took. I got hooked. Completing missions, building coasters, playing the mini-games....even cleaning up the vomit and trash is a lot of fun with "Thrillville". It has all of the elements I liked about Rollercoaster Tycoon without worrying about all of the things that got in the way of having fun. The graphics are top-notch, the music is great, the games are challenging and fun, the missions are great. This is the best game I have purchased for the PS2 in a long time.

5.0 out of 5 stars Great Family game, February 12, 2007
= Fun:5.0 out of 5 stars
This review is from: Thrillville (Video Game)
If you have ever played the tycoon park building game (like sea world, coasters, zoo tycoon etc..) on the PC, then you'll Love this one for the Playstation!!! I was hesitant to buy it because it wasn't for the computer. But since it is really hard to find games me and the kids can play together and after reading all the great kid reviews I order the game and we all love it!!

There are so many things to do, from striking up conversations and making friends, which my 8 year old likes. To playing arcade games; that are actually fun, to design a park with enough food, bathroom, games and rides --and you get to ride the rides. Best part arcade mode is easy enough for my 4 year old to play --and can see why some adult think it's boring-- anything me and my 4 year old can play together even if it's easy for me is a plus. There are challenging parts to the game too like designing your own golf course, race tracks and roller coaster --kind of hard for kids under 6 yrs-- I suggest watching the tutorial or you'll never understand how to do design them. And you also learn how to manage money, take out loans, watch how much power you use so the kids have to use their brains when they put their parks together. Over all one of the best family games since Lego star wars.
