5.0 out of 5 stars Incredible
It's not often that I hear something that makes me just stop--and listen. I first heard this album played on my local radio station. Once a week they play an entire album and discuss it. By track three I was hooked. I can't really describe what I feel as I listen to this. It's just amazing. It's fresh, it's different, it's raw, it's REAL. This isn't some overproduced...

3.0 out of 5 stars pianos ballads but not much more...
Live in Reno, and I listened to this CD after a recommendation from a Bay Area friend. What I heard reminds me a lot of Blessid Union of Souls from Charlottesville, VA. The performances on the album are pretty good. Clayton Stroope has a very strong voice and I found the subject matter to be mature without being overly gratuitous with sex and violence like much popular...

5.0 out of 5 stars Incredible, October 3, 2008

By track three I was hooked. I can't really describe what I feel as I listen to this. It's just amazing. It's fresh, it's different, it's raw, it's REAL. This isn't some overproduced generic crap. This is something that is all about the MUSIC. It has layers and makes me actually FEEL something. Too much music today is about making money and being "cool" without being true to itself or without bringing something new to the table. If you are looking for something with a fresh perspective and want to experience something real, this would be the album to buy.

5.0 out of 5 stars Amazing, July 10, 2006

The album is amazing! The progression of TI's music over the past few years has lead to a flawless presentation of heartfelt lyrics and sounds that push beyond the maturity of the band. A relatively new group to the music scene this band is going leave an indelible mark on the music world and the hearts of many people. Every song on the album is my favorite. Looking forward to hearing you in full rotation on the radio!

4.0 out of 5 stars Finally something fresh for my ears!!, July 9, 2008
This review is from: Thriving Ivory (MP3 Download)
I recently have had the pleasure of experiencing this band in concert and now own the CD. I think they are indeed, the fresh face of young rock and are doing something new, despite what the negative reviews say. So many times rock bands try to do something new and create something so bizarre it's simply un-listenable. Thriving Ivory has all of the key elements of rock with a beautiful piano line and killer vocals to take them to the next level. Clayton Stroope's vocals are refreshing and incredibly beautiful. the rest of the band is a strong support for such a clear, unique, vocal tone. Tracks 1-4 are my favorites, but the entire CD is a good listen. You gotta see these guys live...

5.0 out of 5 stars You won't be disapointed, July 5, 2006

Thriving Ivory has finally done it and released their "first" full length album. Although 10 of the 12 tracks have been released before they have all been greatly re-done and sound awesome. The CD includes great songs like Twilight, Day Of Rain, KFOG sampler CD song Overrated, For Heaven's Sake and of course their current radio song, Angels on the Moon. Angels on the Moon is such a beautifully written song that a band that has sold 10s of millions of records wanted to buy the song. Luckily they didn't. This will the the album that gets them farther than they already are (as they have already opened for Thrid Eye Blind, Journey, Kelly Clarkson, Goo Goo Dolls & Counting Crows).

Best Songs on the album are Twilight, Overrated & Angels on the Moon

Clayton Stroope has a very unique and wonderful voice and the music this band makes is fantastic! I fell in love with Angels on the Moon and immediately searched for this band to hear more. They have a few songs on their MySpace page and after listening to them, I knew I needed to hear everything they have out there! I'm sure there will be much more music from these guys in the years to come!

5.0 out of 5 stars Buy It Today!!!, October 20, 2006
This review is from: Thriving Ivory (Audio CD)
I heard this band for the first time in July 2005, they opened for Kelly Clarkson at Konocti. Little did I know that they would have such an impact on me. The lyrics and music are like no other - soft, yet upbeat enough for you to "rock out" to... Clayton's strong voice along with Scott on the keyboard ... AMAZING! But you can't leave out Paul on drums, one of a kind... Drew on guitar and singing back up, totally into it and Bret on bass, he's Bret, proud to be a part of
"THRIVING IVORY"!! You will not regret purchasing this album. It never gets old, only BETTER!

4.0 out of 5 stars Fresh Finally..., February 24, 2009
By
This review is from: Thriving Ivory (MP3 Download)
As someone who has been a music fanatic for years but has, in the last decade, pretty much given up on most new music it was an *incredible* surprise to discover Thriving Ivory by mistake. I was at the right place at the right time to hear Angels on the Moon. I'm now a fan. It's unique in today's society to find a group that writes lyrics that make you think and music that can bring the lyrics to life... and even better, a performance/mix that you can actually understand. These guys aren't trying to change society by shoving an agenda down people's throats, they're doing what they love to do... and it shows in their fresh sound. I Love it!

3.0 out of 5 stars pianos ballads but not much more..., July 24, 2008
This review is from: Thriving Ivory (MP3 Download)
Live in Reno, and I listened to this CD after a recommendation from a Bay Area friend. What I heard reminds me a lot of Blessid Union of Souls from Charlottesville, VA. The performances on the album are pretty good. Clayton Stroope has a very strong voice and I found the subject matter to be mature without being overly gratuitous with sex and violence like much popular music today seems to be (stupid trend, when will it end?). However, the music also lacks the witty satire of some of today's best acts. There are a lot of piano ballads here, and Stroope possesses an ultra high tenor voice which lends itself well to metal and hard rock but tends to sound a little thin and whiny coupled with a soft piano (and the other co-leader of the band is Scott Jason, the pianist, so there is piano everywhere). As songwriting goes, I found much of the material sounded the same after five or six tracks and my ears were getting tired, my concentration waivering. If you like Blessid Union of Souls, Snow Patrol, Radiohead or Coldplay, you'll probably like some of this material -- although all those groups are much more evolved / mature musically speaking and stylistically as well and Thriving Ivory lacks the same hard edge. There is potential here, with some more stage experience and another album or two they could be a hit.

This is the best album I've bought in years and these guys are gonna be huge! Of the thousands of songs I have in my iTunes library, this is the first album where I have loaded every single song into iTunes. Love 'em all!

5.0 out of 5 stars Staying Power with Great Piano Play, January 2, 2007

One of those CDs that grows on you but stays with you a long time. There are a lot of bands that sound only slightly different than the others but this one breaks the mold. Great piano melodies... I wish more bands would utilize it like Thriving Ivory does.
