Cut Throat is a contemporary urban fiction that should be amongst the reads on your bookshelf. Its a story of a musician Quincy, who is the lead singer of the group Taboo is trying to make it big in the music industry. In the midst of getting his big break there are obstacles that gets in his way that Quincy has to fight to overcome between Raymond James a drug lord and nightclub owner of the Melody Room, and Antoinette Sweet the wife of the owner of Cut Throat Records. What price is Quincy willing to pay to make his dream to become reality.
This being the first novel I've read from K. Roland Williams, it was well written and very descriptive. Its a must read for all genres. I'm looking forward to reading more writings from Mr. Williams..... Tangerine, Reviewer Reader's Paradise Book Club

A Contemporary Urban Fiction Book,

Cut throat is about being an opportunist. An opportunist means one who takes advantage of an opportunity to achieve an end and have no regards in what has happened. Quincy aka Q is definitely an opportunist. He is offered a couple of opportunities that is base around what he loves most; that his music and his ability to sing. He is the lead singer of Taboo one of the smoothest sounding bands in the Washington D.C. area. He didn't become the lead singer of the group because he wanted to but because he was chosen my Ray. Ray is one of the most prominent drug dealers in DC and he was also the owner of his own club called the Mambo Room. Ray wants to be the next Sean P. Diddy Combs and if he can help it; Q will be his opportunity to get there. There is always a bump in the road that doesn't want you to get to where you are going. Ray comes to learn his bump as Cut Throat Records or the Sweets. Victor Sweet is in charge of Cut Throat Records and Antoinette is his better half who wants to be richer then what Victor will ever be. Antoinette considered herself like a talent scout for Cut Throat and was always out and about at the clubs looking for the next big thing. Antoinette saw the next big thing right under her nose and she wanted him to be hers by any means necessary.
In the beginning of reading the urban fiction novel I had a very hard time following along. I had to go back and start reading the book twice. The first night I went to read it and I got so frustrated that I fell asleep. Cut Throat did not actually grab my attention until I got around the 8th chapter and that is when I realized that it was going to be a good read after all. I guess like all books we have to work our way up to the good part and I did eventually find it in Cut Throat. I did agree on what Mr. Williams was pointing out as far as friendship and what it's like for the music world. If you think about it what I am about to say goes together. You don't know who you're friends are or who has your interest at hand, but remember this. The notorious one in Cut Throat an urban fiction written by K. Roland Williams; did it his way.

Street Music!,
By
This review is from: Cut Throat (Triple Crown Publications Presents) (Paperback)
Cut Throat by K. Roland Williams is a rollercoaster ride through the world of music, thugs and supposedly reformed thugs. Quincy Underwood, known as Q, is the sweet-voiced lead singer of the band, Taboo. He is currently singing at the Melody Room, owned by drug lord, Raymond James. Q has dreams of fame, fortune and lavish-living. However, Raymond is interested in making his club legitimate with Q's talents and image. He forces Q into signing a contract with him. What he does not know is that Antoinette Sweet, of Cut Throat Records is also interested in Q. She might be able to make Q an offer he does not want to refuse.
Antoinette, a former street-girl, married to Victor Sweet, a reformed gangster, now a millionaire record label owner, is interested in making her own mark in the music industry. Antoinette and Victor are not as close as they once were and she knows he is cheating on her. He is at times violent, and does not trust her, but she belongs to him. Tired of being owned and mistreated, she is convinced Q might be her way out. She dangles the stardom Q wants in front of his face, even making a sexual connection with him. However, there is the little problem of the contract Q signed under duress with Raymond. Antoinette is convinced she has a solution for that situation, especially since she and Raymond have a history. From that point, Cut Throat takes off at street-level speed. Cut Throat is filled with drama, tension, police corruption and an inside look at what the music industry could be like. I recommend this novel to all who enjoy well-written, contemporary street fiction. Angelia Menchan APOOO BookClub

I admit I was a bit hesitant about this book at first but after reading Mr. K. Roland Williams story in Romance For the Streets, "For Love or Money" I knew I had to check out a full length novel from him. I was not disappointed at all. This story features the charming and handsome R&B crooner Quincy aka Q lead singer of the R&B group Taboo. He sings at a nightclub called the Melody Room for the notorious Raymond James who wants Q exclusively at his club. But a sexy ex-lover of Raymond, Antoinette Sweet wants Q too, both on her record label Cut Throat Records and in her bed. Antoinette is married to Raymond hated rival Victor Sweet. Victor not only took Antoinette away from him but also left a scar across his neck hence the name cut throat. Q finds himself caught up in the middle of this bitter rivalry not to mention the FBI closing in on Raymond as well.
This book builds to a climatic ending with the reader hanging on the edge of there seats flipping pages. Not to mention the sexy love scenes Mr. Williams paints will keep women wanting more. I recommend this novel to all who enjoy well-written, fashionable street fiction. Get this book today! 5 stars!

This was a suspenseful and sexy read! After I read K. Roland's short story in Romance For The Streets I had to get his book and I was very pleased with what I got. I felt like I was with Q as he was running for his life! Antoinette Sweet is a deadly temptress as Quincy gets caught up in her unadulterated sex appeal. Q slowly finds out she's just as cut throat as her gangsta husband Raymond James! The music business has never been this crazy! This was a great read and I'm looking forward to K. Roland Williams next book. 5 Stars!

The two rivals at the helm of Cut Throat Records and The Melody Room in D.C. are vying for control of Quincy "Q" Underwood's vocal talents. Unfortunately for Q, the lead singer in a band called Taboo, he is under the clutches of the Melody Room's thug owner, Raymond James and his posse. Cut Throat Records' owner, Victor Sweet also wants a piece of the action, and uses his street-smart wife, Antoinette, to do the dirt.
Knowing singing is Q's heart, Victor, Raymond, Antoinette, and other undesirables use trickery, blackmail, and murder to get what they want. Antoinette develops a relationship with Q, which may cost him his career and his life. The story also reveals a connection between the characters that causes real problems with the plan to dominate Q and his group, which adds more drama to the tale. CUT THROAT captures the reader's attention from beginning to end, and I commend K. Roland Williams for sharing his writing talent. The ruthless characters make CUT THROAT an authentic hood tale that will be remembered for a long time. Reviewed by Dawnna for The RAWSISTAZ Reviewers

Once A Cheater, Always A Cheater!,
This review is from: Cut Throat (Triple Crown Publications Presents) (Paperback)
Quincy Underwood is a local singer waiting for that big break in the entertainment field. He has a nice following as lead singer for the group Taboo while they render performances at The Melody Room. The Melody Room is owned by Raymond James, a notorious drug lord and crooked businessman who has plans of strong arming Quincy to retain control of the singer and his promising music career.
His arch enemy's wife Antoinette Sweet schemes to steal Quincy away from Raymond with an underlying motive that has nothing to do with his vocal skills. Witnessing a murder in error, Quincy finds himself in a race for his life as he eludes Raymond and his vicious henchmen. He naively mistakes Antoinette's eagerness to help him at face value, but when confronted with her treacherous plot, Quincy has to make a wise decision and fast. K. Roland Williams' debut has excitement as each plot unfurls at a rapid pace. Cut Throat is an energetic, suspenseful, and pleasurable read that captures your attention as you cheer on Quincy to overcome the unbeatable odds! With a tad more depth in developing the characters and their relationships, Cut Throat would have been a really great read! I commend Mr. Williams on his freshman work, and wish him good luck in his future endeavors. Reviewed by Tazzyt2bossye for Urban Reviews

This review is from: Cut Throat (Triple Crown Publications Presents) (Paperback)
Cut Throat introduces, Quincy Underwood a well known local celebrity in the streets of Washington, DC. He's the lead vocalist for Taboo, the hottest Neo Soul R&B band and serious eye candy. Quincy biggest dream is to live amongst the rich and famous and obtain all the finest things that he desires.
Raymond James is the owner of the Melody Room, one the hottest night clubs in the city and on the side one of the biggest drug dealers. He has been holding on to Quincy with a tight lease. Quincy and his band bring in so much legal money that he will not allow them to slip away. So when Antoinette Sweet, wife of the owner of Cut Throat Records, comes sniffing around he is ready for a war. Antoinette Sweet is beautiful, smart, and capable of making men do what she wants them to do. She offers Quincy a contract with Cut Throat but at what price? Cut Throat was well written and a great plot. It will take you on an adventurous ride of sex, lies, betrayal, deceit, and murder. All the recipes to make a fine novel. K. Roland Williams did a dynamic job in writing this book. There was not a dull moment. I enjoyed all the twist and turns through out the book and that it was packed with drama.
