Book Description

May 30, 2007
This book encourages an innovatory conversation between faith and economy-based understandings and initiatives which has to become more important for both given the nature and threat of such global problematics as marginalisation, security and environment. The economy and economics continue to be central to human well-being, increasingly in the form of globalization processes, and increasingly impacting on us through global localities. Religion is of increasing global as well as public significance, not only through events such as 9/11 and 7/7 but also through the growing recognition of the contribution of faith communities to the public good. These trends are in sharp contrast to the decline of mainstream churches in Europe and their increasing marginalization from the public square and mind. Recent interest of comment on economic affairs has identified an unfinished agenda of work for what it means to be Christian and Church through a decisive and creative interaction with what it means to be an ethically adequate political economy for the twenty-first century.
