Book Description

January 11, 2007
A collection of 27 stories, the first fiction book about caffeine psychosis is written by a writer, medical professional and the world expert on caffeine psychosis. The book carries the reader from the Boston Tea Party through the widespread production and use of psychiatric drugs, including SSRI drugs, drugs that should not be used with caffeine. The book focuses on many issues, including caffeine-induced physical illness diagnosed as mental illness, elderly dementia, and ADHD. Showing how caffeine can bring its user to the depths of despair, the book reveals caffeine's horrific effects that many caffeine users, medical doctors and psychiatrists don't know about. Mike Dijital, photographer and urban explorer, designed the book cover, and small photos are in the book. The realistic material may disturb some readers. Due to subject matters and language, the book is suggested for readers over the age of 15.

3.0 out of 5 stars Disappointed that this book is fiction...I say buy "Welcome to the Dance" instead!!, November 30, 2010
Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)
This review is from: Through the Gates of Hell: Stories of Caffeine Psychosis (Paperback)
I have to say first of all...loved Ruth's book "Welcome to the Dance" it is more of an autobiography (and includes a lot of facts and research).I highly recommend reading Welcome to the Dance...good good informative book...safe to say it changed my life.

However, I was a little disappointed with this one...perhaps because I didn't read a lot about it before I bought it. I just assumed "Through the Gates of Hell" would have actual biographies about different people that have caffeine allergies but all the stories are actually fictional. I would love to see Ruth Whalen put out another book that has real true stories about caffeine psychosis. In her book "Welcome to the Dance" she includes biographies of other people that have severe caffeine allergies, I loved that part and would love to read a entire book like that.

But as far as this book goes...fiction about this subject isn't really my cup of tea. I say buy her other book "Welcome to the Dance" instead.
