From the Author

While recovering from my own hysterectomy, I created a website as I gathered information. The success of that website grew as thousands of women found help while recovering from surgeries. I then began to get requests for a book version of the site. I scratched my head, marveled at the Internet, and got to work. So, here it is...because after all, there are still places you can't take your computer.

About the Author

Kathy Kelley is a public school teacher and an author which she manages to squeeze in during summer vacations. She authored this book as an extension of her website: Hyster Sisters. Besides being the creator of the Hyster Sisters website, she loves to read, paint, and shop for antiques. Someday she hopes to have a dachshund puppy. Kathy Kelley is married, has two grown children.

I wish I had this book before my hysterectomy...it would have helped me to understand what to expect. "Through the Land of Hyster: The Hyster Sisters Guide" is loaded with information from women who speak from experience. Kathy's Princess Stories are wonderfully entertaining and at the same time show how important it is to ease back into your normal routine after surgery. Questions about hormone therapy? You'll find information on hormones too! This book is for PreOp, PostOp or for anyone who has had a hysterectomy and should be packed into your suitcase for some interesting reading in the hospital. Even now, two years after my surgery, I still enjoy reading it.

I ordered this book prior to my surgery. It made me laugh and helped calm some very real fears. It gives some helpful hints on early recovery, and what to bring to the hospital. I ended up giving one copy to my doctor and another copy to the hospital. The book is set up in a fairy tale like setting, but addresses real issues that face some women before and after this major surgery!

Kathy Kelley's book, "Through the Land of Hyster: The Hyster Sisters Guide" is a MUST! Any woman who is going to be having a hysterectomy should make sure to read this prior to her surgery date. The book is full of all kinds of helpful points from what to take with you to the hospital to your recovery time at home. There is wonderful information on the subject of hormone replacement and the "how to's" of easing back into your normal daily routine. This book is quick reading, full of wisdom, and lots of fun.
