This review is from: Through the Looking Glass: A History of Dress from 1860 to the Present Day (Paperback)
_Through the Looking Glass: A History of Dress from 1860 to the Present Day_ is, the reader should be aware, the companion volume to a BBC miniseries on fashion history that, as far as I know, has never been shown in the US and isn't, as far as I know, available on DVD or VHS. A pity, as some of the context for the book is missing in consequence. Nonetheless, Elizabeth Wilson gives a good, amply illustrated overview of trends in haute couture and mass fashion over the last 150 years or so, which could be used as an additional text in fashion-history courses.
