Book Description

Praise for Through the Mill:
"The book is filled with numerous historical references that ground this fictional story in facts. The author also throws in some witty dialogue between the characters." K. Maguire

"The subject matter, albeit a fiction book, was very well aligned with today's geopolitical reality. I kept thinking back to how much impact Orwell's Animal Farm had on my personal view of world events and this book delivered the same type of thought provoking power." - Ross S.

"This story will remind the reader of (or introduce them to) a time when patriotism was strong and politics was about different things. It also offers a view of a very possible future." D. Wilski

Through the Mill: A Time for Snow the conservative political thriller about a modern-day Romeo and Juliet, who must face down the Shop, an oppressive governmental body, in order to reinstate the lost freedoms to the people of United States of America, or die in the attempt. Through the Mill is Book One in The Mill Trilogy. The remaining books will be available on the 4th of July 2014. This Conservative Political Thriller takes on topics ripped from today's headlines without any apologies!

Throughout history authors have warned that Collectivism, if taken to its ultimate conclusion would be the end of the United States, and of personal freedom. What if their warnings were actually prophetic? What if government policies such as the Patient Protection and Affordable Care Act, and Common Core create such class warfare when fully implemented that the house of cards topples over?

In a not so distant future; the NSA and Homeland Security have merged into the Specialized Homeland and Overseas Protectorate, an entity known as, The Shop. The government of the United States has been removed in its place; a benevolent dictator has been seated as the head of The Shop, for life. From the continued restructuring of health care, and the creation of a Certified Press; to the ban; on nicotine-producing products, on non-prescription drugs, and on the consumption of meat products; to the support; of THC producing products, and of the freedom to choose sterility with an abortion. Are the progressive controls over individual lives, exerted via an authoritarian government, an effort to save us from ourselves?

When a Pre-college student hears his professor reading from a dissertation on, generational conflict; he is motivated to write a paper that speaks his mind. That would be fine, if he didn’t live under the watchful eye of The Shop. Pursued by the men in the dark glasses, and an artificial-intelligence-based entity, Ronald Snow and his girlfriend Jealousy Kincade are forced to speak out against The Shop, by a dissident faction.

Can these young lovers inspire a nation to throw off its shackles? What happens when a modern day Romeo and Juliet find themselves in the center of a potential coup? Follow the efforts of Snow and Jealousy, as they attempt to reinstate the freedoms of a once-great nation. Will they help give us back our lost freedoms? Can they find a way to be happy in a future they helped craft? Or will they simply be run Through the Mill?

5.0 out of 5 stars Love, Love, Love this book. January 18, 2014
By Kristen
Format:Kindle Edition
Very informative and I kept putting it down and looking up the facts, I couldn’t find any wrong. Pigasis!!! Nice bone to start the hunt off Mr. Scott!

I was impressed with the simplistic romance between Snow and Jealousy it was so strong it didn’t need more than the asides. I really enjoyed the concept playing on the youth in the RFK speech, pretty powerful message.

Bottom line if you like books like The Handmaid’s Tale (speculative /dystopian style) or Agenda 21 (romance/ dystopian style) you will love this book.

3.0 out of 5 stars Good read. April 14, 2014

I enjoyed the novel. The quotations are well placed and give room for thought. I will read more as the author contributes to The noise of this time. This is a tale of fiction with a certain overtone of fiction finality. Read with your mind open. I have the second book .Maybe a fourth star. That being said, this is my first review after 650 kindle read.

3.0 out of 5 stars Passionate but in need of editing January 30, 2014
Format:Kindle Edition|Verified Purchase
Having downloaded the book for free and read the first few pages, I'm not sure I'll continue. The topic captures my attention, and the lead character is engaging enough, but the writing is, at best, unpolished. Misplaced commas and poor phrasing abound even in the "letter to the editor" that makes us the prologue, which a teacher in the first chapter praises as well written. It isn't. This might be a compelling book, but without a thorough going-over by a professional editor, I'll probably never know.

4.0 out of 5 stars A great read! January 14, 2014
Format:Kindle Edition
I really enjoyed this story...it's not usually the type of book I choose but I'm so glad that I gave it a try! I think it would translate into a fantastic film. As I read more into the story...I found myself wanting to know more about the characters and how the whole situation got started in the first place.
