Excellent presentation of one of the greatist artists of our time!,
This review is from: Through Prehensile Eyes (Hardcover)
This book is a walkthrough of 58 paintings by Robert Williams with each plate receiving a suitable diatribe from the artistic genius himself. I read through and studied each painting in one sitting and could not put this book down, although the subject matter and depth of each painting is probably best taken over a longer period of time. I would highly recommend this book as a study of hyperrealism and the most most extreme distortion of the physical world.

I have Malicious Respendence (signed) which is one of my favorite books. This is a perfect companion piece. These are the paintings that Williams did since that book came out several years ago. High quality, beautiful book. Highly recommended!

This is one of tne nicest ART BOOKS I've ever owned. It's a beautiful large format. Large reproductions of Robert's amazing recent work. It shows his talent has aged well, and he is onthe top of his game. An important record of a Master at his craft. GET IT!

If you are even looking at this title you should just buy it! I bought this book as well as "Malicious Resplendence: The Paintings of Robt. Williams". Both books approach Williams' work from different angles and are therefore quite complementary as a pair. Enjoy!

Picks up where "Malicious Resplendence" left off,

This review is from: Through Prehensile Eyes (Hardcover)
Robert Williams continues his legacy of lowbrow/garage surrealism with "Through Prehensile Eyes". It collects all of his newest canvases painted since the publication of "Malicious Respendence". The paintings are all of the same style and twisted sense of humor we have come to expect from Williams. His recent works seems less detailed than what he has done in the past, and some of the paintings are on rather small canvases (for Williams, anyway). Like his much earlier books, this one provides a tongue-in-cheek "artistic" essay with each painting, complemented by an original sketch and/or details from it. Occasionally these essays provide valuable information about historical events or people pictured, but mostly they are just fluff and could've easily been cut from the book. But fans of his work won't be disappointed with the paintings inserted between the text.
