I must admit, I was "WOW-ed" by this book, Through the Shopping Glass!! I have never been to New York City before to see these wonderful windows...but always wanted to go. After reading this book, I booked a flight to NYC just to see if they were as beautiful as the book portrayed. Sure enough, they were even better...but to see them, armed with the history of the windows that this book provided me with, was even more enjoyable. I even met the author during her book signing on 5th Ave. This book is a MUST HAVE for anyone with a holiday spirit!!

This is the PERFECT book which incorporates all that is New York, Christmas and wonderful! Finally with this book out on the market there is no need to travel to see the windows, it's all in one precious bound beauty! This must be part of everyone's gift giving repertoire!

My wife loves this book - she says it would put anyone in the Christmas Spirit. My wife and daughter love to walk the streets of New York at Chrismas time and check out all the intricately decorated window displays!! Great History on the tradition of all the window displays!!! Give it a try its not what we see its what we bring back with our memories.

This book is one of the most beautiful christmas books I have, maybe even the most beautiful.

This is the perfect book to put on your coffee table for the enjoyment of your guests (and yourself) for over the christmas holidays. The pictures are just amazing and really have sharp detail that really enhances the christmas mood.

And the plastic cut-out windows, 4 of them, really add an extra amount of 'beautiful' to this most perfect christmas book. These cut-out windows can actually be used on both sides of the pages and give you the appearance of 8 christmas window displays.

Not only would I recommend you get this book for yourself but also as gifts for others who enjoy the wonderful images of christmas.

A huge, 5 out of 5 star christmas book!

This book is kitschy and cute. If you like a novel book with creative ideas detailing Christmas store windows througout the years, this if for you!

Through The Shopping Window
This book was a disappointment in the expectations. While the pictures are pretty and interesting, the history which should add tremendous value to the pictures, was greatly diminished by the read ability of the text. The text is small type no easy to read. The captions text about the pictures is even smaller and very hard to read even to barely readable. This, unfortunately,negatively takes away the value and pleasure of this book. I'm sorry I bought it!

Why this book is out of print I will never know. A virtual feast for the eyes and memory for Christmas. Whether you have been to NYC at Christmas or not, you will love the windows that all the Department Stores did.

This is a lovely book with great pictures. It is a perfect gift-giving book. I am always looking for new and unusual Christmas books to give as gifts and this will be one of my choices for next Christmas!

This book whetted my appetite for more...can it be a series? .....with perhaps focus, per volume, on one store, or one city, or one decade/era per book? Also, Bigger Pages = Bigger photos please!

Lord and Taylor's windows alone would be a great volume!

The only thing I didn't care for were the non-holiday themed windows like Barneys, some Bendel etc..........and the 4 plastic page clear "windows" ...which just, to me, don't add a lot, but do take up space in the book.

I hope there is a new volume next year!

love this book! wish it had even more pictures. would love to see pictures of every year. got the book when i was supposed to in new condition.
