From Booklist

Freelance journalist Lynette Graves and forensics photographer Forster Scott Hamilton Jr. both have more than their share of excess baggage. When Lynette was married, her then-husband fathered a child with another woman. Lynette now lives with her mother, a Bible-thumping perfectionist who serves up guilt as effectively as she serves a good meal. Forster is a widower with two small daughters. His mother lives with them, but her chronic alcoholism, mood swings, and careless smoking habits make her more high-maintenance than his children. When mutual friends introduce Forster and Lynette, the attraction is instantaneous, but she has her burdens, and he has his, and as if that's not enough, he's being framed for murder. Besides the romantic aspect of the story, Esdaile devotes lots of attention to the intricacies of the mother-child relationship in a compelling tale full of honest emotions. Fans of authors Candice Poarch and Tara Taylor Quinn will enjoy this roller-coaster ride through the psychologically rich dynamics of two seriously dysfunctional families. Shelley Mosley

5.0 out of 5 stars The Second Time Around is better than the first time!, January 6, 2003

(REAL NAME)
This review is from: Through The Storm (Arabesque) (Mass Market Paperback)
Leslie Esdaile has done it again with THROUGH THE STORM. I enjoyed this book so much, I carried it around with me for 2 days to finish it.
Lynette Graves, a journalist, who after a messy divorce from a cheating husband, comes back home to live and take care of her sometimes overbearingly religious mother. She agrees to go out on a blind date with her best friend and her boyfriend's best friend, who happens to be Foster Hamilton,a forensic photographer, and a divorced/widowed father of two little girls who has his alcoholic mother living with him.
There is an instant attraction between Lynette and Foster and the story evolves around how they each handle their relationships with their mothers and their past and trying to build on the attraction they have for each other.
With friends like Rick and Dianne, who added comic relief when I thought the story was getting to weepy, made the trip Through the Storm an easy ride. I loved this book. Leslie Esdaile is a gifted writer who manage to put romance, suspense, and inspiration all in one book. If you are looking for an adult read, this is the book. A definite keeper on my shelf.
I also recommend Love Lessons and Love Notes by this author.

5.0 out of 5 stars The Calm After The Storm, September 14, 2004
This review is from: Through The Storm (Arabesque) (Mass Market Paperback)
Lynette Graves had everything she owned washed away by a hurricane, but the sight of Foster Hamilton makes her forget her troubles. Foster has troubles of his own, a mother that's a drunk, a bitter divorce, and single fatherhood, and his troubles only gets worse when he's faced with a problem that could cause him to lose eveything. Lynette is determined to believe in Foster and do whatever it takes to help clear his name.
