Book Description

August 1, 1998
MARRIED FOR MONEY
Raimond Le Veq needed to marry to gain his inheritance and restore the fortunes of the House of Le Veq, the proud Black New Orleans family whose wealth had been ravaged by the War Between the States. Still wounded by the double-cross of the only woman he ever came close to loving, he gave the choice of bride to his mother. But he never be expected that she would pick Sable Fontaine--the beautiful former slave he could not allow himself to trust again.

FREED BY PASSION
Betrayed and sold to a cruel neighbor, Sable did whatever it took escape. With the spirits of her royal African ancestors guiding her, she made a bold bid for freedom, and won. But along the way she had to hurt the charming Union Major Le Veq, who had romanced her and championed her. Now fate has brought them back together in a marriage of convenience. Can she convince Raimond she was never a Rebel spy, and that this time, she'd choose him above all else?

5.0 out of 5 stars Excellent & Exciting - Found Time Somehow to Read This Book!, October 16, 1998
By
This review is from: Through the Storm (Mass Market Paperback)
I recently discovered Beverly Jenkins. I never actively read 'romance' books and now I wonder if I've been missing out. Her development of characters and their relationship with Sable is wonderful. Sable's mother-in-law was a pearl and her brother-in-laws were humorous and brotherly. It was great to show Raimond's attachment and involvement with the adopted children. I love how the men in these books are larger than life and how they are attracted to strong-minded women. Ms. Jenkins is an excellent writer and I can't wait for her new book (I also am searching for copies of her out of print books - Indigo and Vivid.

5.0 out of 5 stars This is another excellent book by Beverly Jenkins, July 19, 1998
This review is from: Through the Storm (Mass Market Paperback)
Through The Storm is another wonderful book from Beverly Jenkins. This book catches the readers up on the characters in Indigo.

Sable is a young woman escaping from her new owner. She meets Raimond LeVeq at one of the slave camps the Union has set up. Raimond is in charge of the camp. He is captivated by Sable, but at first she does not feel the same.

Raimond and Sable do finally begin a relationship, but Sable is caught up in not being taken back to the plantation and leaves with her new friends.

Raimond meets Sable again as the woman his mother wants him to marry. From this point on, Raimond is in trouble. It does not help that he only wants Sable to fulfill the provisions of his grandfather's will, that his brothers and his mother are in love with Sable.

Raimond finally admits that he is in love with Sable, and has to take teasing from his good friend Galeno.

This book is a good read and the history that Beverly always includes in her books on add t! o the story.

5.0 out of 5 stars EXCELENT,WELL WRITTEN AND MAKES YOU WANT ALL THE MEN., June 10, 1999
By A Customer
This review is from: Through the Storm (Mass Market Paperback)
When Beverly write a story, she sucks you right into her books. Whenever I read a portion of any of her books, when I get through reading it I have to check the cloths that I am wearing because I feel like I just escaped from someone. I also feel like I just made love to Raymond or one of his brothers. I feel like I have been on a journey with Beverly and her characters. If only she could write more books. I want to read something by Beverly once a month.
