Book Description

August 1, 2003
Two years of war have taken a terrible toll on Pearl Street in Liverpool. While sisters Eileen and Sheila share the anxious burden of absent husbands, the conflict for others brings excitement and freedom. Kitty Quigley, stuck at home for years with an invalid father, is forced to register for war work and is delighted to become an auxiliary nurse. And Jessica Fleming, struggling to earn a living, finds herself and friend Rita increasingly drawn to the glamor and excitement of the Yanks. Maureen Lee once again confirms her talent as a wonderfully storyteller, weaving together the lives of a Liverpool community in the Second World War.

5.0 out of 5 stars Through the storm, April 24, 2008

This review is from: Through the Storm (Paperback)
I have read several of Maureen Lee's books and I have thoroughly enjoyed them all, " Through the storm" was no exception. She is able to bring her characters to life and one forms a connection with them.

I was born in Liverpool so I'm familiar with all the places that she writes about. I look forward to reading all of her books.
