"Through These Blues" by D.C. Watson (c. Feb. 2013), self-published on-demand through Lulu; 132 pages, medium-large paperback with large print and wide margins. The author's bio: "My doctor's office tells me that I stand 6'l 3/8" (p. 71) and he is part Cherokee (p.9), that's pretty much his `curriculum vitae'. He is opposed to (radical) Islamism, he is an anti-jihadist, he doesn't like the "media darlings at CAIR" (p.43); he describes himself as an "American" , and, apparently, supports freedom. He provides short snip-it quotations from various anti-American spokesmen (Iran's Khomeini, etc. - you know the usual anti- "Great Satan" suspects). The author tosses in some ayats from the Muslim holy book: The Qur'an -- ayats that feminists and secularists don't like. Overall, this book(let) reads as if one has read the daily JIHAD WATCH on-line newsletter for the past year and developed 30 two-page-long topics and condensed them into this paperback. He provides no footnotes, and end-notes are mere references to various (anti-Jihad) www websites. This book(let) pretty much reads like an on-line blog, herein, a paperized blogger. His heart and mind are in the `right place' (anti-Islamism), but I can't recommend this blog book(let) to anyone. No need to pay for this paperback when you can just read the various daily, anti-Jihad, on-line newsletters by Robert Spencer, Daniel Pipes, Raymond Ibrahim, etc. The author provides numerous anti-jihadist quotations, but doesn't tie them together for a meaningful (coherent) product. My 2* rating is really praising it too highly, too -- something more for taking to a beer-hall for shouting out a quotation from time to time. [What subliminal message the author is trying to make with his book's title and (his?) blue-eyed book's cover - I'll leave for others to psycho analyze.]
