Great New Voice,

I'll agree - there are some moments on this disc that will remind the listener of earlier Coldplay material, but what drew me to buy this release after hearing it playing in a store after only two songs was the depth of the songwriting and the comforting and worn sound of Laswell's voice. Maybe it's just me, but I hear a little more Damien Jurado than Coldplay in here. It's a shame that more people aren't aware of him!

This dude is the real deal. His songs have heart, passion, awesome lyrics. His voice is hypnotizing, beautiful, superb. Can't say enuf about how this cd has hit me; it's dreamy, fun, hip. My only complaint about Greg Laswell is he doesn't have more music! I'm already waiting for the next release---check this guy out. The song "High and Low" is one of the most incredible songs I've heard in years, brings tears of sentimentality to my eyes and a smile to my face.

Beautiful, heartfelt music and lyrics. Reminiscent of early Coldplay before they sold out. "Sing, Theresa Says" is a brilliant single with a cool video. Catch Greg live if you can - he has an inspired, exceptional voice and presence.

Well, for me anyway! Just fantastic! The depth and quality- here is what great music all about. For me, it the best album of the year hands down. I cannot wait to hear what the future brings from GREG LASWELL.

What a gem! Through Toledo's fully-formed twists and turns are what great pop craft should be about. At once familiar yet never boring, this record is also superbly recorded. The tunes and lyrics get under your skin and into your bones and stay for good. If you don't like this music, I feel sorry for you.

Absolutely Love It!,

Greg Laswell has been a long time up and coming. You've likely heard his work on 'Grey's Anatomy' and every other dramatic tv show/movie out there. But really, he's an incredibly talented pianist with distinct vocals and harrowing lyrics. Not really an album to listen to for a pick me up, but stellar nonetheless. See him live if you can!

Great disc. Worth buying at any price.,

Not sure why people always want to compare musical artists to each other, but if you've seen any of the names Greg Laswell has been compared with (Snow Patrol, Coldplay) and enjoy their music, you are almost certainly going to like what Laswell offers.
I think his EP, How the Day Sounds, is better, but that doesn't mean I'm not a big fan of Through Toledo. Actually I had it on repeat on my ipod for quite a while. Great lyrics, songs that build and go somewhere, and a voice that you wish you had (unless you're a female, then, maybe not so much) all lead up to a solid album from someone who should be on the radio more often. |
