4.0 out of 5 stars mma gear
These are great protection for shins to fully kick a heavy bag hard at all heights. I have large calves and am glad I ordered the larger ones for the sure fit. They fit snug and loosen some after a few uses. So far I have used about 7 times on a heavy bag and they stay on my shin well and do fit tight.

1.0 out of 5 stars Not great
They arrived in good time but when putting them on the black fabric on top ripped away from the plastic. Can't see a picture of the back on this website so f.y.i. the backs are white. These shin guards are a bit flimsy. Probably good for someone just getting started and want to test the waters before spending a lot of money before knowing if your going to get serious. Be...

4.0 out of 5 stars Snug, January 4, 2011
So far I love these shin guards. At first I was worried the elastic would wear out and they would start sliding off but they are very snug. Almost a little too snug. I'm actually looking forward to them stretching out a bit. But they fit, stay in place and feel great as I'm kicking people in the face.

These shinguards are a great buy at this price however, I am 5'10 170lbs. I normally cut to 155lbs so I dont have a huge frame. I ordered these in a Rgular size and they are extremely to small!!! So if you are my size or bigger order LARGE!!!!! I will submit a another review once i get them exchanged for the bigger size and can take them for a spin!

4.0 out of 5 stars No more bruised chins, July 14, 2011

I started a new Thai Kickboxing class in June. The first 2 classes I had to borrow shin pads from the instructor. My shins were tender and bruised. I did not think I would be able to continue with the class if this would continue. Once I received the Throwdown Hybrids my shins felt better and I did not have to hide my legs after class. I love the sleeve snug fit, but only gave it 4 stars because they can cut in the back just above the heel if not positioned just right.

These are good for using at home and looking cool with them in the mirror. Not for actual training, the muay thai fighters start training their kids since a young age by kicking tree stumps. They will still break your shins through these. Good for bag work at home but not ok for sparring even with little kids, you will get cut down.

When I got then, I thought I would get the wrong size. This item is very good and it helps me with my training.
