The book has beautiful pictures & ideas however it is not reaslistic for the average person. There are no recipes or menu ideas. The instructions for favors and decorations are minimal. Not worth the money. Everything I got from this book, I could easily get off the web.

This is a beautifully displayed book. It has wonderful pictures of each theme idea, something that is rarely found in baby shower/bridal shower idea books. I found the beautiful pictures very helpful in sparking creativity. It is, however, very short on directions and actual party throwing ideas. It doesn't really tell you how to get from point A to point B. I think it would be more appropriately named "Decorating for the Perfect Shower". It is a book that I will cherish having in my personal library and could see myself returning to for visual ideas, but I do not think I would recommend it to anyone else as a practical guide when throwing a shower.

If you are a visual person like myself, then this is a great book for you. It is full of inspiring photos to make the decor of your shower beautiful. True there is not much detailed instruction to some of the items, but really they are pretty darn simple to fugure out for anyone with a little creative talent. If you need food and games ideas, get a book on appetizers or book of shower games. Obviously bmorgan has a personal vendeta against J.W. Grover so I would read that review with a grain of salt.

Don't be fooled by the beautiful photographs and seemingly original ideas for themed wedding and baby showers. This book is light on content and heavy on fluff. Most of the ideas included wrapping boas around things or trimming objects with tinsel. Silly.

I'm throwing a baby shower for a friend, so I wanted some inspiration and ideas for how to plan a great one. When I saw this book, I thought it would be perfect... the cover caught my attention with the beautifully wrapped gifts. Its illustrations are great (thanks to photographer Kevin Dilley), but the ideas are simple at best, and often just downright commonsense. Some of my favorites?

o "Have the couple's favorite food served as snacks." (Duh!)

o On how to throw a pink baby shower: "Serve pink foods on pink dishes and pink drinks in pink glasses." (I was seeing pink...)

o Decoration for a table at a baby shower: "Display a framed photograph of the new baby." (I'm sorry, isn't that a given?)

It seems as though Ms. Grover decided to write a book and then, while scrounging around for an original idea, instead came up with things she had seen at every single shower she had ever attended. Some of the craft ideas were cute, but lacked sufficient directions on how to make them. There aren't any templates or source guides.

Overall, this book was a waste of my time. At least it's pretty.

I have been working in the design field for over 10 years now and I have yet to see a worse ripp off then this author not only are there no directions to her projects, but who would want to engage them selves in anything that turned out so chic and cheesey. I have personally met the author and her family I knew them for quite a while infact and never did I find that she could creatively enhance a project. she has some small skill in putting together junk so it doesn't look so much like junk. butlets face it - it's still junk. not something I would put in my house nor in my clients homes.
