Got this Webcam today, pluged it in, inserted the driver CD and away I went. Not a dang thing wrong with it, in fact I'm quite suprised at the quality for such a low cost.

this is a great web cam, with great picture quality, note the video is uncompressed by default, which means you will be using about 12 megabytes of hard drive space for each second of video, nearly the maximum write speed, that fairly new computers, can handle. They do have the option of selecting and configuring any available third party video codecs you may have, which greatly reduce filesize of the video file. Also note, the audio cannot be compressed by any means with the original software, and is PCM wave 1412 kbps by default, that translates to about 176 Kilobytes per second, which is a high audio bit rate, as it is uncompressed. Great webcam, just hought I would point out the 2 side notes, thank you and have a nice day. Be sure to relay these two side notes to hercules inc, so that they put in the audio and video compression codecs into their software by default in the future, if they did that it would be a 5 star all the way through.

Bought this camera in Germany, and windows7 automatically downloaded drives. works great for skype applications - which is why I bought it-, good picture and videos. I am buying a second one for my brothers' birthday present-

Well don't let the HD on the tittle fool you the HD stands for Hercules Dualpix not High Def so if your looking for a Hi-Def cam don't buy this one but on the other hand if your looking for a cheap cam that has a real good picture then this one is top of the line, don't get me wrong I love this cam and will keep it as part of my arsenal because I do a Web-TV show and can use some good cams for fixed positions but I am still going to have to buy an Hi-Def cam.

Although this webcam is supposedly Vista compatible, the installion won't even run properly on a Vista system. There are no workarounds, ie installing the drivers manually. The drivers and files that are installed also don't uninstall after the failed installation. A very poor installion routine that mars what might have been a good camera (who knows?).

Got this cam for Vista Ultimate, and thinking it was Plug and Play, ended up being Plug and Pray. I didn't want to spend the rest of my life calling tech support or playing with Windows...so I sent the cam back.

I am sure the cam works, but poor ole Windows....they should get their act together too someday before I die.
