First off this was my first joystic controler. And thus far it has worked out great. The button layout is easy to get use to and having the thrust on the bottom center is actually a pretty nice quality. Its a plug and play just like most units today, there was a very brief calibration which took up no time at all. As long as you take a quick glance at the manual youll be fine. It has a green "back light" which is pretty cool honestly you dont even notice it once you start to play your more focused on the game rather than some light, it doesnt flicker or anything it just turn on ass soon as you start to move the joystick, and it will shut off after about 10 seconds of no movement. As far as the HAWX video game, it was my first since I played some old school windows 98 attack choper game. And honestly I have nothing bad to say about HAWX. The game play is intertaining and smooth, its very addicting. And the few non-realistic, game features arent that bad, for instance you can turn the "Assistance" off and the view will change to more of a over the shoulder type view and you can do differnt kinds of manuvers things like that. Over all I would recomend this game to just about any gamer out there who enjoys a good dog fight. Its a must have in the collection.

I have been gaming for many years now and this is by far the best controller I've ever owned. I can't tell you how many different types I've had. When I first got it the controller it was very stiff. I have broken it in now though and it's easier to use. The response I get from it is amazing. My last controller was way too loose causing me to jerk my plane around in all different directions and of course my dogfights were over with because I couldn't keep control. Now that I have this controller that problem is fixed. There is no delay when trying to turn my plane or when pulling up, down, etc. The thumb rest on the side is very nice and helps with keeping control. There are 17 buttons on this joystick(way more then I need). The throttle is in a great spot, I can use my palm to increase or decrease speed instead of reaching my other hand across to do it. It also comes with extra rubber inserts for the thumb rest and side piece. There is a green LED light that only comes on when the controller is in use. Not sure if there is an option to turn it off, but I don't pay much attention to it. There is a switch to change it from left handed to right handed and you can swop out the rubber inserts for use with your left or right hand. If you're looking for a great controller this is the one. It also comes with a free game(Tom Clancy's HAWX), but I haven't played it.

I have had this joystick for about 6 months now and I have to say that it is by far the best joystick I have owned. The control and precision is phenomenal! I also have a X52 and it has been collecting dust. The only downside to the stick is that when I was transporting it one day the throttle nob came off and the way it was designed makes it close to impossible to glue or reattach so when I go to use it the throttle occasionally falls off. I would highly recommend this product. Also, Hawkx is a great game. It doesn't take a whole long time to beat the game but it is a ton of fun!

that's easy to use(if your game recognizes it)....

With the Hat Sw.,there's 24 prog. sw.s, w/o 16....
Either way you need to make copies of the J.S. diagram(incl.)
and label the sw. positions and the game title...

I found it to be exceptional, especially for the price. HAWX is quite a retarded game but think of it more as a calibration tool for the new stick. All in all it's a worthy replacement to my old sidewinder 2. The only thing I would change would more keys on the head of the joystick rather than the base.

After trying a handful of the rank and file joystick in the $30-50 range, I couldn't find one to my liking. The Logitech Extreme 3D Pro had weird deadzones in the axes, and the amount of pressure to move the stick tended to change based on how far the stick had already gone, meaning you couldn't swing the stick along a curve in a smooth motion with any regularity. The Sidewinder sticks were better, but suffered from inaccurate throttle controls at times and the stick just felt stiff.

I can honestly say that the Thrustmaster T-16000M has none of those issues in any game I have tried. The stick itself is smooth and even in all directions or combination of directions, and is pinpoint accurate. The throttle is easier to reach in it's center mounted position than you might assume, and allows for very fine control with your thumb without compromising your ability to reach any of the buttons. Speaking of the buttons themselves, they're all within easy reach (though it took me some getting used to to have the 3 button fan array under the hat switch, it's great once you get used to the change) and are both large and responsive. I've not had any of the keys stick, nor can I recall a time when they failed to respond.

The only thing I can't review about the stick is it's dual handedness. Despite being left handed by nature, I still use joysticks right handed, so I haven't had the need to switch it. It did, however, come with detailed instructions and all the required hardware to convert the stick to left-handed orientation, and the buttons on the right side of the stick (which a lefty would use) seem to work just as well as the left side buttons.

As for HAWX, it is a fun, though arcadey and at some points gimmicky, flight sim. If nothing else, you'll get a few solid hours of enjoyment out of it, and it makes for a good way to break in your new stick before moving on to more realistic fare. If an arcade style flying game isn't your cup of tea, you can also get the Thrustmaster T-16000M by itself.
