4.0 out of 5 stars Would Be Even Better if there were fewer guest appearances
After listening to this CD one will agree that Krayzie Bone is evolving into a more mature and well rounded artist. The most often heard complaint about B.T.N.H. is that they rap too fast to be understood. In Thug on da Line, Krayzie has slowed down his melodic flow and added some elevated insight to his lyrical content. Tracks like "talk to myself" and...

3.0 out of 5 stars 3.5 stars for the 2nd solo by Krayzie
A little over 2 years since his solo debut, Krayzie is back with one not as good and worthy of 3.5 stars (his debut is a solid 4). As with most of teh Bone Thugs solo projects this one helps proove that they are much better as a group, as most of the solo's hover around 3-4 stars, as many of their group albums are 4-5 stars in my opinion. Once again, as with his debut, a...

This review is from: Thug on Da Line (Audio CD)
After listening to this CD one will agree that Krayzie Bone is evolving into a more mature and well rounded artist. The most often heard complaint about B.T.N.H. is that they rap too fast to be understood. In Thug on da Line, Krayzie has slowed down his melodic flow and added some elevated insight to his lyrical content. Tracks like "talk to myself" and "hard time hustlin" are a great breath of fresh subject matter that is dealt with in a deep narrative. compared to the constantly rapped about subjects that can be found on radio air play; Krayzie adds depth to the streets.I love hip hop. But lately, hip hop is turning into a very redundant offering. Krayzie Bone's new offering isn't the mecha of change, but it does restore some of the excitement in the genre. This album would have been tight without the sharing of mic time with his new roster of artists. Krayzie could have also done without the absolutely-what was he smoking-wack "mambo no. 5" inspired song: "rollin up some mo"

4.0 out of 5 stars Solid follow-up, September 1, 2001
This review is from: Thug on Da Line (Audio CD)
When I first listened to this album, i thought it wasn't that good of an album. I mean, it wasn't the same "Heated Heavy" Krayzie Bone from "Thug Mentality 1999." I always think of that album as one of the greatest. I guess i wasn't ready to listen to Krayzie Bone on some R&B tip. However, after the second listening, I really started to enjoy myself listening to the smooth production and tight lyrical skills by Krayzie and his Thugline bretheren. The most powerful song on this album is either "Talk to Myself" or "Hard Time Hustlin." These songs display another side of Krayzie, the always mellow Bone Thugs member. Don't worry though. Krayzie still comes hard on tracks like "Da Thugs" and the title track, "Thug On Da Line." This album wasn't ment to be an album to get hype to. It's an album to mellow out to. Tracks like "Rolling Up Some Mo" and "Kneight Riduz Wuz Here" are excellent examples, despite Krayzie being a no-show on the Kneight Riduz song. This album only gets better the more you listen to it. And, on a side note, I can't wait for the Kneight Riduz album. Man, that will be krayzie!!

3.0 out of 5 stars 3.5 stars for the 2nd solo by Krayzie, January 17, 2006

A little over 2 years since his solo debut, Krayzie is back with one not as good and worthy of 3.5 stars (his debut is a solid 4). As with most of teh Bone Thugs solo projects this one helps proove that they are much better as a group, as most of the solo's hover around 3-4 stars, as many of their group albums are 4-5 stars in my opinion. Once again, as with his debut, a lot of songs (18) and guests (on all the songs but 5). Of the 18 songs, 8 are good, 5 or 6 I skip over, 3 or 4 are ok, and 1 is almost a classic. If he would have klicked it down to about 13 songs and cut out a lot of the appearances by his new, less talented clique, it would have been a solid album. Production is pretty good on most of the album. LT Hutton & Krayzie Bone each do 3 songs, Vachik Agiantz & Super Sako, and Def Jef each do 2 songs, Damizza, Neptunes and 5 people I never heard of all do 1 song. ot his best album but a huge fan of Kray of Bone Thugs might want to check it out.

5.0 out of 5 stars one of my top 15 favourite albums, January 10, 2004

This review is from: Thug on Da Line (Audio CD)
I can't believe how great this album actually is, whenever I go thorugh drama I put this or a Tupac-record on to clear up my head.

There really aren't any bad songs on this album, but the best ones are: GEMINI, TIME AFTER TIME (which embodies Heavy D's Dont U Know),KNIGHT RIDUZ & TALK TO MYSELF.

-Rollin' Up Some Mo- is a funny song becouse it samples that popsong "A little bit jessiCA, A little bit gina" or whatever it's called by that guy Lou Bega or Lou Vegas or somthing.

If U R a rap-fan u can not dislike this, I don't see how it would be possible.

5.0 out of 5 stars krayzie's inner soul, September 16, 2003
This review is from: Thug on Da Line (Audio CD)
this is a gr8 cd.despite it not being as ultra aggressive as thug mentality 1999 was.its his most introspective album.it lets you go deeper into krayzie bone's mind set.he has alot of deep and meaningfull things to say.its real easy to trash this album if your just judging by the way it sound.but as far as depth goes this album is far superior to TM99.and thats the truth weather people wan't to admit it or not.krayzie bone also tries to transcend cliches with his subject matter.and quite honestly the thug line artists wasn't that much of a destraction as everybody made them out to be.speaking of wich lareece, and the knight riders seems interesting, can't wait to see how well they develope.its unfortunate that this album became a victim of september 11th.because around this time nobody didn't want to fly anywhere to promote it (can you blame them?) not to mention columbia just flat out stopped promoting it.this is a great album nobody heard

5.0 out of 5 stars Krayzie Bone - Thug On Da Line, March 16, 2002

Krayzie Bone's new album is one of "Ruthless Records" greatest projects. With songs like the single "Hard Time Hustlin'" my favorite "Ride If You Like" and "Ride The Thug Line" this cd is already a classic. But its got more than 3 good songs. Here are some others you should check out: "Ya'll Don't Know Me", "Talk To Myself", "Da Thugs", "If You A Thug", and "A Thugga Level". The bottom line this is one of the greatest "Bone" cd's ever. A must have for any collection.

5.0 out of 5 stars I Found This Cd..., February 17, 2005
This review is from: Thug on Da Line (Audio CD)
Well worth the money, and well worth the wait.
Having listened to Bone Thugs and Harmony back in the day when they first broke out on the scene, I never paid them much attention, just heard their music either on the radio or at someone's house and pretty much left it at that.

Then I started listening to each artist, starting with Flesh N Bone (5th Dog Let Loose) and decided to try Krayzie's cd. At first I didn't think I would like it until I heard the songs Can't Hustle Forever, Talk to Myself and Gemini. After that I was sold. Since I purchase a great deal of music music online, I was instantly searching for Thug on the Line to download, to no avail...I was able to download maybe 11 songs (that I purchased of course) but not the entire cd. I started listening to the full cd on Lycos Rhapsody and let me tell you, Everybody Wanna Be Thugs, If You A Thug, Knieght Riduz Was here are now staples to play...Personally I enjoy the entire album, and I truly like what Krayzie has to say, regardless of who produced the album. This cd has substance, something that a great deal of artists lacks today...

Although I was not a stone cold Bone fan, I am slowly becoming one thanks to Bizzy, Krayzie, and Flesh...

This is definitely a cd for your collection!

4.0 out of 5 stars Not as great as Thug Mentality but a great album nonetheless, March 26, 2005

Thug on Da Line proves that Krayzie Bone is still one of the greatest rappers of our time. He still has the smooth flow and (most of the time) lyrics. I would reccomend this album to anyone who liked Thug Mentaiity or any Bone Thugs n Harmony albums. I really like his more mellower songs for some reason. Songs like "Talk to Myself" (which features Tiffany. You know, the pop star from the 80's) and "Hard Time Hustlin'" (Which features the beautiful and talented Sade) are really mellow and show more insight into Krayzie Bone as a real person and not just a rapper. The best songs on the Album are

Yall Don't Know Me (4/5)
Can't Hustle 4Ever (5/5)
Talk to Myself (5/5)
Hard Time Hustlin'(5/5)
Everybody wana be a Thug (4.5/5)
and
Thug on Da Line(featuring Wish Bone) (4/5)

4.0 out of 5 stars THE ONE AND ONLY!, July 23, 2003
This review is from: Thug on Da Line (Audio CD)
I got start with saying that Krayzie Bone's second album is not as good and perfect as his classic debut "Thug Mentality". But don't get me wrong - in now way has Krayzie fallen off. That's not the case. It's just that this album is different. But I'll start with the things that have stayed the same. First of all - Krayzie himself. He hasn't changed a bit. He's still one of the greatest and most talented rap artists these days. He remains so unique. No other rapper in the game can match his versatility. He can express himself in so many ways. On some songs, you can hear his incredible lighspeed fast rapping, on others he slows it up and delivers some sylky smooth lyrics. And on others (the best ones) his voice is rawer and harder than anyone else in the rap game, with Krayzie delivering straight thug sh#@ noone can match. And I won't even start with his singing talents that add so much flava to so many of the songs. Another thing that stayed the same is his unique production. Like his first solo, Krayzie keeps bringing us beats that sound so different than anything else we hear these days. And they fit his style perfectly. After saying those great things about "Thug On Da Line" you might ask yourself, so what's so different in it? I'll tell you - on his debut album Krayzie Bone had some of the best rappers in the game drop guest appearences (E-40, Eightball & MJG, Snoop Dogg, Treach, Fat Joe, Gangsta Boo and many more) while still having a lot of solo songs too. But on this album, it's dominated by the whole Thug Line Records roster, while Krayzie Bone has just a few solo songs by himself. And the trouble is, that those rappers are average at their best. But there is a reason for all that. On his first album, Krayzie had to establish himself as a solo artist, and boy, did he do an awesome job at that! But now, on his second album, he sacrificed album sales (maybe even hundrieds of thousand copies of albums sold) in order to introduce the world the artists on his label. And the result of all this, is that on most songs, you just wait for Krayzie's verse to arive. Don't get me wrong - it's not that the Thug Line rappers are not good, it's just that they aren't good enough to be on almost every single song! Of course, Krayzie Bone shines through the whole album, and he is SO GOOD, and the beats are so great (on most songs) that the other rappers don't really ruin the song, just make you wish it was Krayzie rapping instead of them. So, to sum it all up, although the album is not as perfect as "Thug Mentalilty", and although there are no star rappers featured on it, it's still one of the best albums that came out in 2001. All I can say is, Sawed off Leathaface, keep up the great work and bless us with another masterpiece!
