Suprisingly good...,

I will start off this review saying that I am no fan of crunk. I am one of those pretentious backpacker nerds who tend to look down on what other people like. I listened to this cd with that perspective expecting not to like it - and was pleasantly suprised. Trick sounds hungry on these tracks. Great beats, and while Trick will never blow you away with his lyricism, he rides the beats extremely well. The album has varied content - part southern thug bravado (f&*kin around), part hungry artist just trying to get by (I Wanna Sing), even a couple of love songs. While Sugar sounds like a rehash of In Da Wind (beat almost identical, Cee-Lo singing the hook) it still bumps, due in no small part to a stellar guest spot from Ludacris. Even a questionable Sabbath sample (Let's Go) works on this album. Especially with the recent trend of disappointing hip-hop albums out there (*cough Encore cough*) Thug Matrimony is a breath of fresh air. Will not change your life of anything, but it is fun and worth a listen.

I am sick and tired of people slammin people that take old rock and other types of music and add uptodate beats and lyrics...grow up you worthless turd... " Nice job of stealing, January 28, 2005
Reviewer: rocker81 "rock n blues fan" (Dallas GA) - See all my reviews the song "Crazy Train" from Ozzy Osbourne you talentless manufactured hack. Go get some skills and write your OWN stuff. It's sad these guys don't even have enough talent to come up with their own stuff. If stupid people wouldn't make this guy famous he'd be a homeless bum on the side of the street. And before you go on about Ozzy appproving that song. He is just looking for money these days and it isn't his tar riff anyway.... It's Randy Rhoades and he's dead. I have my doubt that he'd approve. And that's only part of the point anyway. COME UP WITH YOUR OWN STUFF. .." you moron...Actually Ozzy owens all rights to it...also...plenty of people take music and update it...thats why its music...You FREAKING SHMUCK DIE AND GO TO HELL!

*Before I start my review...I wanna ask one question...How is the riff stolen if it was cleared to sample by Ozzy Ozbourne?*
Don't worry about people hating on Trick cause he sampled a song...and don't pay attention to people that think making music doesn't take any talent. They make me laugh. On to the review! Trick Daddy delivers more of that Miami heat that he is known for. With 5 albums under his belt, and this 6th one heating up the airwaves, Trick remains a staple in Southern Hip Hop music and music in general. He is a good lyricist and rhymes are adept. An underated rapper to say the least. The beats for the most part are on point here displaying that updated Dade County sound. Everyone knows that Trick Daddy is for the kids but the songs he does here for them, unlike his other albums, are corny. These Are The Daze, I Wanna Sing, The Children's Song are good but they aren't good. They sound heavily out of place on this album, so they might not be corny...they just don't sound right on the album and they come back to back to back. Maybe if the sequencing was different. They aight to listen to, but I usually skip them; songs (5-8). With That out the way, Trick does deliver on these songs. F'In Around with T.I. and Up & Coming rapper Young Jeezy ( he'z gonna blow!), The single Let's Go wit Twista & Lil John, Gangsta Livin, U Neva Know, The smooth 2nd single Sugar with Luda and CeeLo. Nearly all the songs are tight rather than the ones already explained. Menage A Trois is quite possibly the best song on the album with Smoke from Field Mob absolutely ripping the song to shreds, The best verse on the album and one of his best ever. The beat is hot and Trick drops some hot stuff too (but not as hot as Smoke's!). 4Eva with Jazze Pha is playa, and I Cry with legend Ron Isley is also a candidate for best song on the album; a reflective song with excellent crooning by Ron Isley. Thug's About is another great song with trey Songz about trying to get with this lady. He samples New Edition's If It Isn't Love, and surprisingly makes an extremely good song. "If I aint a Thug, why do I feel this way?/ Why the Streets Stay on my mind/ since I am a thug, why do yall get so mad?, Y not accept that's my life?". Trick Daddy gets down on the introspection on this track. Supertight. He ends the album off in good fashion with Ying Yang Twins and Trina on DOWN WITH THE SOUTH where they proclaim 'now everybody wanna be down with the south!!!!' in an infectious chant and a good club beat. Trick Daddy's album is another example of great Down South music. While not as good as his previous album, it is definitely worthwhile for you to check out. Forever pimpin never slippin. 4.5 stars.

Good Album,
This review is from: Thug Matrimony: Married to the Streets (Audio CD)
I like that song Let's Go even though a lot of people are hating on it because they don't like the Ozzy sample to be in a rap song and I respect that but it sounds good on the song though. Anways decent album from Trick Daddy even though this is second worst album of his career. But that is okay I like how he went with this one. I recommend this to rap fans only because only rap fans can appreciate this and if they don't then f@#k'em let them hate.

As you can tell by my reviews, I have eclectic taste in music and it's only recently that I've gone back to loving rap. I used to love it back in the day when Public Enemy were the best out there, and it's good timing now to be loving it again when I hear an album like this. All tracks on this are excellent, especially my two favourites, Lets Go, and Sugar. It's a shame they weren't bigger hits. This is their best cd and it's worth a listen to. It's good to hear rap with some meaning in it. Great cd.

Damn, Trick impressed me with this one... I can't believe some of these low ratings, this is his best front to back album in my opinion. "Let's Go," is a great lead single and "Sugar," is just as good... HIm and Cee-Lo are a great combination, if you haven't heard "In Da Wind" from one of his earlier releases check that out for proof. He brings out the southern big guns with Luda, T.I. Cee Lo, and more, he might not say it but he's more deserving of the "King of the South" title than many who claim it.

This is tricks daddy's best cd yet. Though he isnt the most profound lyricist, he is halfway decent, and is alot better on this album in his delivery. He has a wide variety of subjects on this album, everything from crunk songs, to love songs. Get this album

ONLY GOOD SONGS ARE "LET'S GO", "THE CHILDREN's SONG","MANAGE A TROIS" AND "THUGS ABOUT" , but the BEST BEST TRACK IS.... "SUGAR (GIMME SOME)" ft. Ludacris & Cee-lo. It's ridikulous. I'm glad i bought this album, just fo luda's verse! thats how hot it is. The reason this LP didnt get a lot of stars is because there's a lot of annoying tracks wit wack beats and lyrics but i expected to only get like 5 hot tracks anywayz. P.S- track 10 (skit) is teh funiest skit i ever heard. Its one dude actin like a grandma and a young hoe LOL, its still worth checkin out.
