About the Author

Wahida Clark was born and raised in Trenton, New Jersey. She decided to start writing fiction while incarcerated at a women’s federal camp in Lexington, KY. Her style is street, raw, and she has an imagination that’s in overdrive. When you read her novels they are so real you are convinced of one of three things: that you are inside the book, you know the characters, or you just have to meet them. Her first novel is "Thugs And The Women Who Love Them", which made the Essence Best Sellers List. The sequel to this book is "Every Thug Needs A Lady," and coming soon, is her third novel, "Don’t Knock Tha’ Hustle". --This text refers to an out of print or unavailable edition of this title.

This story is one of three ladies all trying to come up through education while refusing to leave the thugs alone.

Angel - Going to law school while seeing a pimp named Snake. She has no problem fighting him like a dude, she refuses to let him beat on her like he does his tricks.

Kyra - Going to school to be a psychologist. Has a man named Tyler but her true love is older man Marvin. Despite Typler's intentions, Kyra will never love him in the same way she does Marvin.

Jaz - Going to Princeton to be a doctor while seeing Faheem. Jaz seems to be very focused on her studies but she also has a side hustle in the drug game that will come back to haunt her.

I thought this book was good from beginning to end, I did not want to put it down. I liked how the book was divided into sections by each woman so that the story and background of the character was told from their particular point of view. Now I can't wait to read the sequel. I also liked how each "thug" was most interested in handling his business in the bedroom. Each of these ladies had a man that knew how to put it down.

The version of the book I read contained an interview with the author and a reading guide. The author interview was informative and a nice touch. I highly recommend you read this book. I will definitely be purchasing the sequel "Every Thug Needs A Lady", I hope it will tell Roz's story and give an update on the other ladies. Good job Wahida!! Keep 'em coming.

When I first purchased the book Thugs and the Women Who Love Them, I was unsure if I would enjoy the book... I just want to say that I was very wrong in my opnion. This book is great in my mind. Once I started I could not stop... I finished in one day, that is just how good the book is... Being young and still going through the head aches of dating, plays a part in why I like this particular book as much as I do. Personally if I can relate to what is going on in a book, I'm hooked. If I'm wondering about what is going to happen next I am also hooked, and that is exactly what Thugs and the Women Who Love Them does...

Wahida Clark is by far one of my favorite authors, I have never read one of her books, that I didn't really enjoy, and connect with the characters. Thugs and the Women who Love them is the first book, in a series of Thug Books by Wahida Clark. You will love this book. This book is centered around three women Kyra,Jaz,and Angel, and the Thug men in there lives. Angel is a good girl, who is going to college to be a lawyer. The Thug in Angel's life is Snake aka Keenan. Snake is a mean Pimp. He totally abuses women, and has several women he pimps and beats regularly. Snake and Angel have a love/hate relationship, he pays all of her bills, and doesn't prostitue Angel, but he beats her , and he has many women in his life. Jaz is in a relationship with Faheem, he is a hustler who maintains many Liquor Stores, and Check Cashing Companies.Jaz has pleaded that she can not be with a drug dealer and that Faheem needed to get out of the game. Jaz is a Chemisry major in College, and she is already letting her Major pay off, by cooking Crystal Meth . Faheem doesn't know this part of Jaz, until she is arrested and needs Faheem to come to her rescue. Kyra,is about to become a Doctor. When Kyra was younger she fell in love with Marvin, who was much older than her and a known drug dealer. Kyra and Marvin indulged and became Heroin addicts together.Marvin got a 7 year sentence in prison, and Kyra got her life together, now he is out of prison and coming back to claim his woman. These Women stand by there men, all in the name of love. After you read the book you will have a few unanswered questions, which is okay since the best is yet to come.I really liked this book,if you like hot, urban GHETTOFABULOUS, thuggish books, then you will enjoy this one. This is real street lit!!!!

Wahida Clark held nothing back! I can't believe this is her first book! In it she tells the story of three career-minded women who want to cut their ties to the street life. No problem right? Well thats not the case when the men they love are part of the game. Filled with [adultery], drugs, violence (...) 'Thugs and The Women Who Love Them' proves itself worthy of its title. A quick and easy read, it takes you into thug life and the friendship between the women behind these thugs. There was one downside for me though. There was no reaction from Angel regarding the death of her love. Regardless. I have purchased the sequel 'Every Thug Needs s Lady'. From what I can see, Wahida can only get better. I hope she continues writing, as she has just earned herself another fan.

The book was good but the writer lacked true writing skills. I was left hanging alot. Something would happen and you never hear about it again. It did not even have a main plot, but I did enjoy reading it because I know people who live it. But next book I hope she steps up her writing game. And I do suggest that you buy it.

I loved this book! I couldn't put it down. Can't wait to read the sequel. It was a good read to the last sentence. Each story had me glued to the pages. Read it!
