Good Solution at a Decent Price, January 9, 2007
This review is from: Thule 724 Flat Top 4-Ski Rooftop Carrier (Sports)
I found this product to be a good solution for what I needed it to do--Carry my families ski's up to the slopes. There's not a lot of noise from wind aerodynamic issues, even at high speeds. It holds the skis firmly in place, and has a very easy to use open button & close snap. Although it may not be made of metal, it's sturdy enough that nothing moves in it.
This was by far a better option that several other systems I found, which offered too many parts & not a whole lot of value for the price they wanted. The factory installed ski rack which would have cost $300 was roughly the same size and was not as good a deal as this rack for my 2000 Dodge Durango.
In response to the previous two reviews, I must note a few corrections.
Firstly, the rack DOES hold two snowboards, I tested it with two of my friends snowboards on my last trip. In order for them to fit, one must face down and the other face up, one on top of the other. The individual who posted that it does not obviously didn't think to try stacking them.
Second, In response to the fact that the bar could simply be twisted--you're joking right? It would attract attention if an individual attempted to twist off the bar. On top of that, in order for them to twist off the bar, they would have to break the board/skis in the rack in the process, and that would defeat the purpose, would it not?
The only problem I had with this was the FM1 adapter which was required to install this carrier on my factory bars. The instructions for assembly didn't provide any information for any vehicles besides imports. (Domestic cars are out of luck since this is a Sweden based company!)

Nice product...easy to install and to use!, January 22, 2007
This review is from: Thule 724 Flat Top 4-Ski Rooftop Carrier (Sports)
Installation was a breeze. Took less than 10 minutes from opening the box to installing the lock cylinders. I finally used the ski rack yesterday and it worked great.

Cheap plastic connectors, December 28, 2004
This review is from: Thule 724 Flat Top 4-Ski Rooftop Carrier (Sports)
The ski rack is attached to the Thule bars by a plastic connector which must be spread almost to the breaking point to wrap around the bar. The old 724 had metal connectors. Making them plastic is insane. These connectors will break over time. Additionally, a thief could simple steal your skis by grabbing the rack and twisting it thereby breaking the plastic connectors.
