I am so pleased with this suitcase and evidently have raved about it enough that my boyfriend has also decided to buy one. Very very sturdy and good quality build - I can't imagine the material ripping or starting to look used. For me, one of the best features is the fact that the wheels are huge, and therefore there's a reduced likelihood of the suitcase rocking or tipping if you go over a bump. The protective goggle section is extremely strong too and I would have no issues loading it up with fragile items (to a certain extent).

Overall a very good suitcase, which definitely justifies the price. I would so rather purchase a suitcase like this every 7/8 years rather than a lower quality one every 1/2 years!

The only problem with this bag is that the mechanism to raise and lower the handle is quite delicate. During a trip to Europe this summer one of the release buttons was crushed by the baggage handlers and the handle would not go back down after I pulled it out. It is only plastic and lacks the durability you would expect from a bag of this price.

Looked at Tumi luggage was put off by the price tag. This is a solid bag at a lower cost. Have this type of bag from LL Bean but my complaint has always been that it tips forward when you let go. This has stabilizers that prevent that. I got 3 weeks worth of clothes in this bag and it was still under 50 lbs for the airlines (and didn't tip over when I stood it up.)

Great bag as far as size and usability. However, after less than 6 months, the top soft handle pulled out while loading it into a car trunk. It looks like the stitching wasn't done well.

The Thule 87L duffel bag gives the best of both worlds- a duffel (soft case that can fit more and expand depending on the items packed as opposed to a hard case luggage) with the convenience of a wheel and a specially designed "v-shape" telescoping handle which maintains rigid control.

The capacity is just right and I really appreciate the fact that the bag can be split into two main compartments. The ability to store a pair of sunglasses or goggles in a specially made hardened pocket is a nice touch.

If you are a frequent traveler and require a bag that is easy to pack, offers multiple carrying options, and is extremely versatile regardless of the situation (a weekend boarding/ski trip, road trip, overseas flight) this bag will take a beating and can get tossed around no problem. Being able to get to the main compartment two different ways also helps when you're looking for that one small item without having to unpack everything else.

I travel about 80 days a year for business. My trips range from overnights to week long multi city visits. This bag does it all. It's light weight, yet fits everything. The wheels are fluid and the shell is indestructible! The top pocket is very conveinant for sunglasses, phone and wallet. I can also tell you that this company stands behind their product. I had a minor problem and they replaced the bag in 3 days! That kind of customer service has earned them a customer for life! I highly recommend this bag. I also purchased the backpack....also a great buy!

1. This bag sticks out on the carousel - that's a good thing. People will compliment it. Prepare to add 30 minutes to your airport arrivals/departures b/c of this.
2. It's HUGE but still lightweight. You can pack it to the gills (like I did on my 10 day trip to Seoul) and it stays below 50lbs!
3. The wheels work great
4. The clamshell design is great for separating things like shoes from the rest of your stuff.

its already been around the world twice. Not a stretch. Not a creak. Not a "oooh, I cant close my zip!". None of that. This thing can take whatever you throw at it. Strong wheels and handle, a blokes bag for sure....

From the reviews I though this was a real Main Piece luggage. It is really an over sized carry on. Looks durable and has good height, but the length is kind of short (4-8 inches shorter) compared to most duffel wheelies I have had. I am keeping it as a mid range bag...but if you need a long haul bag for a lot of packing...keep looking for something longer..

Construction seems good...and the wheels look great...Big and durable!

We will see how she travels. For the price....I think it could have been bigger....but maybe the quality will offset the small footprint.

I purchased this bag in 2012, for a trip I was doing to Antarctica. I wanted something I could be rough and tough with and I didn't feel I wanted to do a backpack. This bag is awesome, from being pulled in all types of terrain it has done great. I don't have much use for the sunglasses pouch and seeing as you can not lock this pouch I glued the zips, so no thieving / easy access. Most women buy handbags I buy luggage for various styles of travel. It was very hard to find something that would compete with the likes of the North Face Rolling Thunder duffels 72L etc, but here is why I keep going back to my Thule, No matter how much I stuff it the weight distributes evenly it doesn't have the urge to fall over when I leave it free standing which would often happen to my PacSafe and North Face Rolling Thunder bags. There are also times when you have to carry the bag up / down stairs etc the bag is balanced perfectly and allows me as a female to be able to just lift and carry with easy. I bought a NF Rolling Thunder 100L for an extended trip I was doing in 2011, everything could fit into it, where it all went wrong was when I could barely pick the bag of the ground and it had a bad weight distribution. Now its just a very expensive storage box as I no longer use it. With the Thule, the wide mouth allows for easy packing and if like me you don't use split function then just lock the zips, the compression straps are great and make a difference in minimising the size of the bag when its not at full load, the wheels have free movement, easily ramps from pavement to road etc and when pulling the bag you don't feel the weight of the bag as you pull....Since 2012 this bag has been with me to 25 Countries from city trips to off the beaten path and some adventure trips. It is also the reason I own three other Thule bags as well.
