I almost didn't buy these chains because of the price, but I decided to drop the cash and give them a try. What a brilliant decision!

They install so easily and with the auto-tensioner, there's no more pulling some black circular rubber band thing and trying to hook it in 5 places along the chain. You hook the chains around the tire, slip the auto-tensioner piece through the hole until there is no slack and drive.

Taking off the chains is just as easy.

I feel sorry for the saps on the side of the road struggling with their chains, then end up paying some chain installer to help them out.

I received the chains three days prior to a surprise snow storm. I ran an errand an luckily threw the chains in my vehicle, because in order to get back home I had to chain up or I wouldn't have made it home. My vehicle is a rear wheel drive pickup, but I was going places that four wheel drive vehicles were having problems.
My first installation was baptism under fire. The hardest part of the installation is hooking the back hoop of the chains. You want to make sure your vehicle has enough clearance between the tire and the body to allow you to reach in and make the connection. The connection is easy, but if your clearances are tight you may have some problems. After the back hoop is connected the rest of the installation is very simple. Once you have the chains mounted and you move the vehicle forward or backwards the chains will true up as advertised and tighten because of the design. I don't think most women would like the back hoop hookup because their sleeves are going to pick up the dirtand grime from the tires as they make the connection. Thule supplies you with a piece of plastic as a ground protector for your clothes as well as long clear plastic gloves neither of which were very substantial particularly if it is windy as it was the day I had to chain up. I would recommend you by a kneeling foam pad from a nursery and keep it in your vehicle to keep your knees dry and figure your sleeves are going to get dirty. All in all though the best tire chains I have ever purchased. By the way I am over 70 years old.

I have used these three times now. They are easy to get on and off, even under less than ideal conditions. The self tensioning is a great feature that takes some of the guess work out of getting the chains to fit properly. When installed, the traction is amazing!

In spite of the fact these chains are pricey, they will probably be the last set you ever need to buy. Very high quality product in the age of cheapie use-once throw aways. It seems like this is one of those 'you get what you pay for' products.

This is a great product that is not only easy to use but performs great in the snow. My 8 year old can install these chains. Buy them without fear.

These chains are expensive but well worth the money. If you think about it, if you're using chains - You're trusting them to keep you and your family out of harms way under hazardous conditions. Have you ever seen a crash where the driver had bad chains? You'll want these Thules on your vehicle.

1) Thule chains handle superbly in snow, ice, and on pavement. Cable chains can't measure up to the Thule chains.
2) The self tensioning feature really works. This can save your the grief of having to adjust the chains after you put them on.
3) If you have the right size, these chains won't damage your rims or vehicle. I've seen cars torn-up by poorly fitting chains.
4) Forget about the rubber band tensioners on most other chains. Not needed with these Thules.
5) How much did you spend on your vehicle? Invest in a great set of chains. Thule XG12 Pro chains.
6) What is your families safety worth? An accident in the snow or a storm can ruin a trip, or worse.

My state has fairly ridiculous chain laws, I bought a set of these chains for an Audi Q5 with 19" wheels. I didn't end up "needing" the chains this winter beyond carrying them (to comply with said laws), however I did test fit them in the driveway (as everyone should before they need to use them). These were by far the easiest chains I've ever installed, not having to use the bungee spiders to tighten them really made it quick and painless...of course my opinion may change when I have to do it while kneeling on the side of the road.

I bought these for my Toyota Rav4. I used them a couple time this winter and was impressed with the quality. They are not quite as easy to put on as I'd hoped, but they are still 10X better then the cheap ones. These chains are pricy, but worth it in my opinion.

After doing a lot of research, my husband and I finally decided that if we were going to get chains for our small SUV we should probably go with decent ones, even though they seemed expensive. Thank heavens we did! Totally worth every penny. These Thules are super easy to put on and make a serious improvement with traction. DO NOT be swayed into buying something cheaper. If you ever need to use chains, you want to use chains that will work & that will not take you forever to put on (remember, if you need chains, it's probably cold outside). Nice carrying case with these, too, so easy to store in the vehicle. At first we thought these looked a little wimpy, but they are perfect for the conditions appropriate for our Rav. Of course there will always be snow too deep and ice too slick for driving, in which case bigger chains won't help. Order the set specific to your vehicle & you will not regret this purchase! These chains really chomp onto the snow & ice!

After much research I bought the XG12 snow chains. The bottom line is they represent great value and are easy to put on. They self tension and self center. Exactly what you need if you don't want to be outside in the cold messing with snow chains any longer than needed.
