We puchased this from a local pharmacy to help our six year old to stop sucking her thumb, and it didn't work AT ALL. I put a LIBERAL amount on her thumbs, and then did the same to mine (to test it). I could barely taste a thing. It was slightly peppered in flavor, that's it. She was sucking her thumb again in minutes. I'd also like to note that my child does not like pepper type flavors, and often complains when food is "too spicy"! She has even said this of foods that are not spicy. Yet this stuff didn't even make her flinch.

I ordered Mevala Stop off of amazon, and she hasn't sucked her thumb since it arrived. I did the same test, and 9 hours later (including a shower along with dishes and scrubbing at it), my thumb still tastes VERY BAD! Skip Thum, and go straight to Mevala Stop.

My mom used this on me when I was a kid. I was a thumb sucker. I learned pretty quickly that if I endured the burn for 10 seconds or so, I could then have my thumb the rest of the night as usual. My sweet, clean, comforting thumb.

I eventually gave up my thumb sucking... when I was 12! A bad summer cold helped me kick it. This didn't.

Fast forward 25 years or so... I tried this on my son, to break his finger sucking. He's 6. He's doing it in school. It's time to give it up. I didn't want him to go as long as I did. I hoped either they made this better or he wouldn't figure it didn't last... oh well. He came home the first day and said, "That stuff only works the first time."

Total waste of money.

We have recently learned of Mavala and holy cow is THAT stuff nasty - and long lasting. I'm hanging my hopes on it. Thum is for the birds.

I bought this for my 18 month old son who has started biting his nails. I put it on his fingernails the first time and he only put his fingers in his mouth one other time that day. I thought it was going to work. Boy was I wrong. After that day, I think he got used to the taste because now he will lick at it until the taste is gone and still bites his nails. I have even tried doing the whole finger tip, to no avail. We are going to buy Mavala Stop. Don't buy Thum, it doesn't work.

I have a daycare child who is 2.5 years old. She sucked her thumb from day one attending my daycare. (she was like 6months old) She would suck her thumb so bad it would be raw and bleeding sometimes. It stayed in her mouth. No matter how much reminding she would still do it. Her mom bought Thum and she has only tried like three times to suck her thumb in 3 days and would of course not even get a suck before she would jerk her hand out of her mouth!! IT WORKED FOR HER!!!! This child was the worst at it!!! It really works!!!!

This stops the bad habit of nail biting by a very unpleasant taste. The cayenne pepper end the habit.

I don't even think of biting my nails once I've applied it. It's also used for thumb sucking habits of children.

Highly recommended.

I have went through two bottles of this stuff two different times. My daughter is a major thumb sucker & I used the first bottle a long time ago,but she just sucked it off.Apparently the taste didn't phase her. She stopped sucking her thumb on her own later, then regressed & started again. I tried Thum again, but by morning she is sucking her thumb. I completely saturate her thumb at night, but it just doesn't work.

We purchased this product at our local drug store and to our dismay it had zero effect. The product had a strong medicinal odor until it dried. It had no taste at all. No bitter or pepper. We were very disappointed. Pay the extra cash on something that is known to work.

I bought this from the local drugstore. It doesn't do anything. It smells like acetone, but doesn't taste like anything. Don't waste your money.
