If you like to read, you must have the Thumb Thing! Simply put the Thumb Thing on your thumb and pick up a book. The two wings will hold the pages open more easily than if you just used your hand, making reading more comfortable. Ideal for reading in bed, in the bath or at the beach. Since it allows you to read with one hand, it's great for commuters, especially if you have to read standing up. When you are finished reading, place the Thumb Thing in the top of the book as a bookmark. Thumb Things come in (thumb hole) size: small (1/2), medium (5/8), large (6/8) and extra-large (7/8). Small Thumb Thing should fit fingers with ring sizes of 3 to 6.5, Medium Thumb Thing - ring sizes 7 to 8.5, Large Thumb Thing - ring sizes 9 to 11.5 and Extra-Large Thumb Thing - ring sizes 12 and up. The Thumb Thing is somewhat useful. I put the Thumb Thing lower down on my thumb than the pictures show, and it did help hold a book open with less pressure on my wrist (and thus less carpal tunnel problem). However, it was not as useful as the item which hooks over the top of a book to hold the pages open.

We saw this at a Hastings a while back and then couldn't find it again for years. This is made of durable plastic. Though its hard to tell what size to get. When we bought it there was no way to measure. So we ordered a large and an extra large for my husband. All I can say is that he loves it. If you wish you could hold books with one hand this is for you. We didn't get to pick a color so be warned if you're a picky guy you could end up with purple. Its very simple, place the corner into the cease of the book and let the wings hold the pages down. When you get toward the end the wings do block words at times, depending on the texts layout.

If you still read paperback books, consider this. It is not worth fooling with on regular books IMHO. I have read maybe 100 books using it and find it fiddly but usually worth the trouble. It allows my thumb to more easily hold the book open so I can read the page close to the binding. However I gave one to both of my adult children that also read a lot and they do not use it. Must be a personal thing. Sorry I can't be more decisive.

Out of 2 orders and 5 thumbthings the only option was "clear" and these are hard to see when they drop against bedding--white sheets,etc. I figured by ordering that many at least one or two would be colored.

This product is a 5 star product! amazing and everyone should definitely have one. the only thing that really bothered me was in the product description they state that you get a package of 12 in the size that you requested

when I opened the excessively large box that I at first thought was empty because it was huge and too light to have anything in it, there was only one thumb thing inside. I cant find a number or anything to get this straightened out!!
