Product Description

The 3B Scientific W64061 iPhone-attachable, pocket-sized microscope lens is compatible with the Apple iPhone 4, has LED illumination, telescopic zoom and focus dial functions, and 60 to 100X digital magnification. A microscope lens enhances the resolution of an object or image, and is commonly used for inspection purposes by hobbyists and professionals in extracurricular, watch-making, jewelry, model-making, and engineering applications.

This compact, portable microscope connects to the iPhone 4 and displays a magnified, 3-cm, circular image on the iPhone 4 screen. Built-in bright white LED illumination provides enhanced viewing. The microscope lens body screws into the provided iPhone protection case with an attached threaded screw. In addition to the iPhone case, the device comes with a protective pouch with a draw-string closure, a cleaning cloth, and instructions. It operates with three LR1130(F) batteries, measures 36 x 26 x 30cm, and weighs 0.031kg.

Microscopes are instruments used to enhance the resolution of an object or image. Types include compound, stereo, or digital. Compound microscopes use a compound optical system with an objective lens and an eyepiece. Stereo microscopes show object depth in a three-dimensional image. Digital microscopes are used to display an image on a monitor, rather than looking through a lens. They can utilize LED, fluorescent, and mirror light sources to help control viewing capabilities. Microscopes are widely used in education, lab research, biology, metallurgy, engineering, chemistry, manufacturing, and in the medical, forensic science, and veterinary industries.

American 3B Scientific manufactures educational material for scientific, medical and patient education, including human anatomy models, simulators and trainers, and teaching aids for the science and health education, health care, and physics industries. 2.0 out of 5 stars Not worth the price January 25, 2013

It does what it says it does - sort of. The tiny hole on one end is barely big enough to get all but the smallest seed or insect into the focusing range. If you take a photo with your phone, the small portion of the image is a fraction of the image size, with an awkward circle around it, and the image quality is very low. Maybe interesting for some artsy instagram shots, but otherwise not worth the price.

2.0 out of 5 stars Sadly Disappointed October 8, 2012

This was not worth the money or time I invested to purchase this item. It might appeal to a child but was a sad disappointment even at the hobby level.

5.0 out of 5 stars Amazing! February 2, 2012

The microscope works amazingly well. While it is not designed to be used for technical work or long term it is a great addition to my gadgets.

4.0 out of 5 stars A fun gadget to play with May 17, 2012

For my birthday my wife got me two iphone microscopes, and one telephoto lense.

This unit is the higher-power of my two microscopes, and it works pretty good. No complaints.

I keep a lighted high-power loups everywhere I have a desk, and I use them constantly. It is handy to have the capability of taking a picture when I need to share what I see with others.
