5.0 out of 5 stars Another Cronin/Lewin Smash Hit!
(Speaking of "smash," poor Duck, one of the most beloved Cronin characters ever, experiences one in this book; read it and see!) This is another hilariously fun read for pre-schoolers and parents/teachers alike, with a very satisfying, laugh-out-loud, typically-Doreen-Cronin twist at the end. Special Note: Keep your eyes on those meteorologist mice! They are the most...

3.0 out of 5 stars Not the Same Sort of Fun
I was introduced to this series' predecessor 'Click, Clack, Moo' some years ago, and I still find myself going back to it regularly for laughs, smiles, and good memories. 'Dooby, Dooby, Moo' was no different. My sister and I really, really enjoyed it and even converted my husband to the books. However, with the introduction of 'Thump, Quack, Moo' I find my interest...

Long live sly, irreverent Duck, my hero! He builds the best ticket booth I have EVER seen! Don't miss this book.

5.0 out of 5 stars Duck Returns Funnier Than Ever!, September 2, 2008

Duck, along with Farmer Brown and a few of the cast of farm animals return once again in this HILARIOUS and "whacky adventure". Author Doreen Cronin and Illustrator Betsy Lewin have definitely outdone themselves.

Duck is always up to something. As usual, you've got to laugh at what he's done and how he goes about doing it.

Grab yourself a copy and read this with your child. My first grader just loves this book!

4.0 out of 5 stars A Good "Corny" Read, December 17, 2008
This review is from: Thump, Quack, Moo: A Whacky Adventure (Hardcover)
Every time I see that a new Doreen Cronin book is being publishing, I just can't wait! Thump, Quack, Moo is another inventive story and feels like an old friend with the accompanying illustrations by Betsy Lewin.

Children familiar with the series will love the formulaic writing that is similar to previous books. The ending will once again delight and I was especially surprised (happily) at the fold out that ends the story.

While not as entertaining as Dooby Doo Moo, it is still a good book to add to your young child's collection.

5.0 out of 5 stars Great series, September 23, 2008
This review is from: Thump, Quack, Moo: A Whacky Adventure (Hardcover)
My 4 yr old loves these books! This was a really cute one and is well-illustrated as always. We enjoyed the ending and duck is always fun to watch as he causes trouble on the farm.

I love the books about Duck. This one didn't make me laugh as much as the others, but it was worth it's price.

This is another cute story with a well-developed cast of characters. The sounds and events keep my daughter engaged throughout the book.

3.0 out of 5 stars Not the Same Sort of Fun, December 18, 2011
This review is from: Thump, Quack, Moo: A Whacky Adventure (Hardcover)
I was introduced to this series' predecessor 'Click, Clack, Moo' some years ago, and I still find myself going back to it regularly for laughs, smiles, and good memories. 'Dooby, Dooby, Moo' was no different. My sister and I really, really enjoyed it and even converted my husband to the books. However, with the introduction of 'Thump, Quack, Moo' I find my interest waning - and not because of age.

What was so charming about the original book is starting to become a bit repetitive and juvenile. 'Click, Clack, Moo' seemed to be about creating a good READING book whereas 'Thump, Quack' really feels to be more about extending a run of books. The cows are barely in the book at all and rather than being harmlessly stubborn (or manipulative), duck instead takes the spotlight and sabotages the farmer's work to inflate his own ego.

I'm by no means one of those people who believe childrens' books should be sugar and lollipops and no bad behavior, but I don't enjoy harmless fun being succeeded by mean-spirited vandalism. Duck for president? No, thank you!

If you are new to the books of Doreen Cronin you are in for a wonderful treat.
If you are familiar with her books Thump, Quack, Moo; is a great addition to
the collection.
What I like best about Thump, Quack, Moo and all of Doreen Cronin's books is their
universal appeal, my four year old niece loves them as does my 68 year old mother.
