5.0 out of 5 stars Read this book before you read Hillary's new book, June 9, 2003

This review is from: Thunder on the Left: An Insider's Report on the Hijacking of the Democratic Party (Hardcover)
In this intruguing expose by the former FBI agent who spilled the beans on Bill and Hillary Clinton back in 1997, Gary Aldrich reminds us all why the Clinton's aren't to be trusted. Aldrich goes a step farther in Thunder on the Left and shows how the entire Democtatic Party is now beholden to the Clinton's and other left-wing radicals. Aldrich writes like a seasoned investigator and this book is hard to put down.

5.0 out of 5 stars Interesting and Enlightening Work, June 27, 2003

This review is from: Thunder on the Left: An Insider's Report on the Hijacking of the Democratic Party (Hardcover)
Everyone always wonders where all the college liberals and radicals go once they graduate. Do they really change their ideals and moderate?

Gary Aldrich reveals in this book that tha hard-left is alive and kicking in the corridors of Washington. The agenda of many Democrats in power is very different than the agenda of heartland democrats.

It is precisely this agenda that Mr. Aldrich exposes in this book. A trusted FBI agent of 26 years, Mr. Aldrich brings the incisive analysis and investigative expertise that he first demonstrated in Unlimited Access to this new book.

A must read for any true conservative!

4.0 out of 5 stars Polemical but Documented, July 8, 2003

This review is from: Thunder on the Left: An Insider's Report on the Hijacking of the Democratic Party (Hardcover)
Yet another tale of how the Democratic Party has become beholden to a variety of leftwing interests. This has only become more apparent after the passing of the "Campaign Finance Reform" Law. Now that soft money is prohibited, those running must appeal to the only sources that can supply the bread - Emily's List, NOW, environmental groups, etc...all with a leftwing perspective.

After reading this somewhat depressint tome, two things should be noted. (1) The majority of those on the Left do not consider themselves "liberal" - they view their tilt as moderate (quote unquote). NPR, CNN, CSB, TIME, MSN, ABC, NBC, The TImes (NY, LA, DC) - all hugely influential media outlets shriek at the mere suggestion of a liberal bias and insist they are moderate or even neutral in the ideological war within the nation. This is due to a variety of reasons - namely their everyday world which is populated by like-minded folks who are well-heeled, well-educated and well to the left of the average American.

The second point is that liberals do not have an active "agenda" for bringing a socialist, authoritarian government in power. Besides, those kinds of governments eventually limit the very debate they now enjoy. Most consider the European model of an orderly, socialist welfare state supporting the arts and keeping everyone more or less the same far superio to our often clumsy, redundant, uneven capitalist culture. The author makes good read on the silliness - even anti-Americanism - that permeates the Democratic core but one must allow that even they THINK they are doing what is best.
