5.0 out of 5 stars The Best Dreamscape
Thunder Mountain is the best of the first four Dreamscape reissues. I enjoyed it when it first came out as Silhouette Shadows 37 and thought it was just as good seven years later. Mercy Kendrick is trapped on Thunder Mountain with a Native American hermit she can't trust and men trying to kill her tracking her down. It gets worse. Gray Cloud is his people's guardian...

1.0 out of 5 stars Too corporeal to be believable
I had such high hopes for this book, but found myself skimming, trying to find a paragraph or scene that would grip me enough for me to start again with renewed interest. Instead, I found my eyes rolling to my dismay, since I really do love Rachel Lee's books. I found the hero too unreal and unbelievable, and too spiritual to become a romance hero. I kept picturing him...

Mercy Kendrick is trapped on Thunder Mountain with a Native American hermit she can't trust and men trying to kill her tracking her down. It gets worse. Gray Cloud is his people's guardian of the mountain, and he says the mountain is alive, angry and now wants them dead!

This book is unlike any other I've ever read! It's full of passion, action, romance, danger and an otherworldly threat. The love story is tender and the paranormal plot totally fresh and new. Rachel Lee fans know she is a special kind of writer and I love the way she did this one. Thunder Mountain is also a Conard County book for fans of the series. If you buy one Dreamscape, this should be it.

5.0 out of 5 stars Another great book!, June 10, 2009
Rachel Lee continues to impress with the diversity of novels she has written. She has the ability to take on varied projects and deliver unique stories that are readable and satisfying. I wish she wrote more in this vein. Her fantasies have proven to be exceptional and her flair for the paranormal is unique and original.

5.0 out of 5 stars A seductively silent mountain man..., July 8, 2008
An enjoyable paranormal, passionate read!!!

Book of the book synopsis:

Thunder Mountain speaks....

It was scarcely possible to believe, but Mercy Kendrick could not escape the sensation that the storm-racked mountain looking down on Conard County was a living, breathing entity -- something so powerful it could destroy an unwelcome mortal in an instant....

And none of the mountain's dangers was more terrifying than Gray Cloud -- silent guardian of a place that had been sacred to his people since the beginning of time. And yet, despite whispered warnings -- and her own trembling heart -- she could not keep away from this seductively sinister man....

1.0 out of 5 stars Too corporeal to be believable, January 24, 2009
I had such high hopes for this book, but found myself skimming, trying to find a paragraph or scene that would grip me enough for me to start again with renewed interest. Instead, I found my eyes rolling to my dismay, since I really do love Rachel Lee's books. I found the hero too unreal and unbelievable, and too spiritual to become a romance hero. I kept picturing him as an 80-year old native american witch doctor with withered leathery skin, and long gray hair. The heroine too, I found I couldn't relate to on any level at all. Her mission of finding out if wolves had repopulated the area seemed futile since she neither had the resource or authority to protect the wolves, nor was she doing research on wolves. I also never felt the passion she felt for wolves, which would be the only other explanation for her risking herself on that dangerous trek up an unstable mountain. Because I never fell in love with the main characters, I didn't care about their burgeoning romance or what happened next. I love Rachel Lee's books, and I won't stop reading her other books, but this one just didn't fit me personally. Obviously, there are people who enjoy this genre, and that's great.

I have read all of Rachel Lee's books that she wrote regarding the series Conard County.I enjoyed all of them except this one. I found this one to be very disappointing. It did not capture my attention like all of the others did.
