wow,
This review is from: Thunder & Sunshine (Paperback)
Beautifully written. Epic adventure. Great to have a quality travel book by a 'normal' person rather than the endless celebrity stuff. Well done Alistair! Can't wait to read about his South Pole book.

This review is from: Thunder & Sunshine (Paperback)
I have read many bicycle travel adventure books, and what separates the great ones from the mediocre is always the same thing - the extent to which the author lets us into his heart. Sure, the tales of tribulations on the road are exciting, and we are always up for a good suspense at the border crossing story. But when the author tells us of his feelings and emotions, especially the honesty in which he writes about his loneliness and self-doubt, and yes, his determination and moments of transcendent happiness - that is what brings Moods of Future Joys and Thunder and Sunshine, to a higher level than the typical travel adventure. I thoroughly enjoyed both books and look forward to whatever else Alastair Humphreys cares to write about.
