I just happened to check Amazon when this figure was at its normal retail price of 17.99$ and jumped on it. As far as availability goes... listen to Jason there who also left a comment; wait for this to start flooding stores at its normal price rather than paying the outrageous prices of some of the resellers.
The figure is fantastic looking and the articulation is definitely up to my standards and im fairly picky in that area. He looks and feels awesome and is a blast to pose and play with.
heres my 1 gripe: the sword of omens he comes with is extremely bendy. I can look at many other plastic accessories from other toys and every single one of them are hard plastic (not bendy) so I'm not sure why they decided to use this softer plastic for the swords (yes the small version uses the same plastic but is less of an issue because of its size). The large sword of omens CAN AND WILL get bent out of shape. You can always bend it back and straighten it out but for a weapon like a sword, this soft plastic seems like an awful choice.
The title says maybe the SDCC11 version was better? well that relates back to the sword. The SDCC version has a shinier/chrome finish on the swords which I ASSUME is of a harder plastic or perhaps the chrome coating might stiffen it.

tl;dr
pros: fantastic figure, great articulation
cons: sword is bendy

I just happened to find the Lion-O and Tygra figures on Amazon for a few bucks less than Toys R US and free shipping was also a plus. I like these figures, but the detail and quality are not up to par with the 1980's LJN line. I admit a fondness for the original series, and do not like the new series at all. I will collect the classic line only and hope they will continue to make the figures. I did not take the figures out of the package, but they do look good for a 2011 made action figure. These are a must for any fan of the original series.

I have both the Lion-O and Tigra figures. Both get high marks from me. My only complaints are that my Lion-O head is quite wobbly. Not exactly sure why this is. Hopefully it's the exception not the norm. The rest of the figure is amazing. Highly detailed and articulated. As you see in other reviews, the swords are a bit soft and bendy, but not that distracting. Tigra is also a great figure, I only wish they had the same abdomen level of articulation for him as with Lio-O. He doesn't bend at the abs and seems a bit thick in his midsection. Overall these toys are great for the prices, well made and definitely better than the 1985 versions.

If you're like me, you grew up with the Thundercats - one of the best cartoons ever made. Period. You will not be disappointed with this action figure. You can even holster the sword. The glove is awesome. The action figure stands up and does not fall down - which rocks. I like that it's not too small, either. ENJOY!

My beautiful wife bought the Bandai Thundercats 8" Classic Lion-O for me as a gift last night. I was excited to hear this character was getting a modern update from Bandai and the final product is certainly an amazing product.

I like the compact packaging. There's hardly any wasted space and it shows off the figure nicely for those who want to keep him MIP. You get a nice instruction sheet to explain all of the accessories. It's not really needed but it's a nice touch.

The 8" figure comes with both the short and full Sword of Omens, two right hands (one open hand and another for holding either of the weapons) and an open left hand, along with the Claw Shield left hand that holds the included short Sword of Omens sword and attaches to the figure's left hip.

The iconic full sized Sword of Omens is molded in soft plastic for safety's sake and it became warped from the packaging. Removing it from the plastic tray only made matters worse. I boiled some water and dipped the sword in for a few seconds, then did my best to straighten it out. That seemed to do the trick in my case but I'm not sure how long the sword will keep its new shape. So far, so good.

The 18 points of articulation are very nice but not without some issues. The head is very loose and doesn't hold a pose well. The hair makes the head a bit heavy, so I'm almost certain that has a lot to do with the head issue. The ankles are also an issue, a bigger deal for me than the wobbly head. The figure tends to fall in most poses thanks to the loose ankles. The rest of the joints are fairly tight on my figure. I wish they would have included holes in the feet and some sort of figure stand but that's just a personal gripe.

The paint is nice and clean for the most part.

I have waited 26 years for ThunderCats figures like this! This is one killer collectible with great detail and cool accessories. I have seen the negative reviews and find them ridiculous. I for one am thankful that the classic look is getting some love after all these years. I love the coloring, articulation, and all the killer positions you can put him in. I give this figure a solid ten out of ten. KUDOS Bandai!
