THUNDERPUSS: best DJs on the scene,
By
This review is from: Thunderpuss (Audio CD)
I believe that Barry Harris and Chris Cox aka THUNDERPUSS are absolutely the best DJs on the music scene today. They have a way of taking a song to a whole new level when the remix it. I think that this cd is a good sample of their work. I say sample because they have only included their edits on this cd. You have to hear the full club mix or anthem to fully appreciate their work. The best songs on this cd in my opinion are Don't Tell Me by Madonna, Hero by Enrique Iglesias, First Class Freak by THUNDERPUSS, and Don't Let Me Be The Last To Know by Britney Spears. As far as I know this is the only place to find Don't Let Me Be The Last To Know by Britney on cd as well as First Class Freak. Anyway, I wish they would have included some of the full length club mixes here, but nonetheless, this is still an awesome cd and I would recommend it to anyone who loves club music.

Ladies and Gentlemen, I Present to You THUNDERPUSS!,

At long last, here is the exceptional debut mix album from the superb LA-based DJ team of Thunderpuss (Chris Cox and Barry Harris). To the average listener, their name may not ring a bell, but you have definitely heard their remixes. Madonna, Janet, Whitney, Britney, J.Lo, Enrique, Backstreet Boys and even Mary J. Blige have had their songs reconstructed by Thunderpuss. This CD compiles some of their mixes as well as a few tracks produced by others. The disc sets the tone with Madonna's "Don't Tell Me," and continues right up to the energetic rendition of Britney's "Don't Let Me Be the Last to Know." Everything else in between ranges from excellent to even better: Enrique's "Hero" stands out; we're treated to Barry Harris's "I Got My Pride" with Pepper Mashay, and there's also the new TP single "First Class Freak." My only complaint is that they picked the wrong version of "Dive in the Pool;" it's not a bad remix, but they should have used the version that appears on the "Queer as Folk" soundtrack. All in all, a solid compilation that put Thunderpuss head and shoulders above many of their fellow remixers.

Most of the songs on this cd are barely 4 1/2 to 5 1/2 minutes in length so if you are looking for longer mixes (not here). The main reason I bought this cd was for a remix of "hero" by Enrique Iglesias which is about 4:50 in length(is there nowhere in the world you can actually find a full mix of this song on cd?). I have most of the other tracks on here -Madonna's mix I think was on the import of "Don't Tell Me" and could have put the promo mix of GHV2 on here but oh well. The Britney Spears mix (6:16) is the only approaching a 12" mix length in my opinion which is really good considering it is Ms. Spears. But this cd is a very good idea of what the Thunderpuss sound sounds like .

Could be fabulous...,

When you think of THUNDERPUSS, you think of fabulousness! For the most part, this CD holds very true to Thunderpuss' diva vocals, harcore beats, and gay club anthems. However, as the CD is winding down, TP2K tends to stray away from all that with a not-so-exquisite remix of "Dive In the Pool" by Wayne G. Heaven, and a less satisfactory Britney Spears song, "Don't Let Me Be the Last to Know". I'd give it 5 stars if it weren't for those two minor...but serious faux pas!

I already owned half of these songs on other CD's but, to have them all on one CD is the greatest. The songs that I didn't own made it really worth the buy! This is one of my best buys yet this year.

In the past few years Thunderpuss have become the most successful remix team around. This excellent continuous mix gives a great overview of their work. Highlights include: Don't Tell Me, Can't Fight The Moonlight,Everyday,Dive In The Pool and Clubland. This is the perfect Cd to put on at a party or to use for a workout. Be warned however, that the songs are edited down to five minutes or less, which may disappoint fans hoping for the full length remixes.

I bought this CD on a whim looking for some good club music and I wasn't disappointed. My favorite track on the disc is "Stand Up" featuring Latanza Waters. I keep this disc in my truck and when I get bored with the pitiful fare on radio these days I push the CD button and go into another world.I will say the remix of Enrique Iglesias "Hero" is both odd and boring and doesn't seem to fit in with the rest of the selections and I'm not overly fond of the Madonna "Don't Tell Me" either.

I just bought this CD in Mexico City and I can only say it is awesome. You will find here some of the greatest mixes done by Thunderpuss and that you sure have danced in Clubs around the world.I specially love the mixes from Madonna, Kim English and of course "Can't fight the moonlight" from Leann Rimes. If you are throwing a party, just put on this CD and you will have your guests bouncing non stop for one hour. Can't wait for a second release from this great DJs !!!

A Fresh eclectic mix from Start to Finish. This disc will have you up and dancing from the first spin. Definitely not the Best of Thunderpuss and by far a complete body of work, but this gives you a Great example of this mix master's style! A definite purchase is warranted for this 1st outting for these incredible mixers. ****who would have thought, I'd be dancing to "Can't Fight The Moonlight" by Leeann Rimes??? It Bangs and Thumps like any other killer club beat and stands up to all the greatest. Nice job TP! "Everyday".......a Must play in 2002 "Stand Up".... Incredible "Don't Tell Me".... It's Madonna.... Superb, but not the mix of my choice, still slammin'...It's still Madonna Enuff said! Even Ms. Spears is Danceable here, to her semi-balad "Don't let me be the last to know"..... as stated before....... you will be Jammin and dancing for a full 120 minutes ... Just pop this jem in the CD player and Groove.... Nonstop Dance Mix- supreme! A top notch fresman release for THUNDERPUSS, one NOT to pass up! Solid 4 out of 5 Stars! |
