Book Description

October 5, 2010
After twenty years of testing recipes on his fellow monks, Father Dominic of public television s Breaking Bread offers a surprising variety of pizza recipes sure to please every palate. With his customary detailed and easy-to-follow directions, Father Dom shows you how to make the perfect crust (the real key to first-rate pizza), flavorful homemade sauces, and savory toppings. You ll discover a delicious reduced-fat sausage that is both easy and economical, the way to avoid soggy crusts, and a magic trick to have warm, crusty bread waiting for your breakfast the morning after pizza night. Recipes include six different doughs, seven sauces, and dozens of pizzas like Pesto and Prosciutto Pizza, Muffaletta Pizza, The Denver Diner Special, Mediterranean Vegetable Pizza, Pizza Diavolo, and Fig and Papaya Dessert Pizza.

5.0 out of 5 stars If You Like Pizza, You'll Love This Book! April 10, 2011
The chapters in Thursday Night Pizza: Father Dominic's Favorite Pizza Recipes include Pizza Basics, Crusts and Sauces, Appetizers, Pizzas, and Desserts. I loved reading the notes listed after the recipes, which are charming and unique. The book is well designed, easy to use, pleasing to the eye, and manufactured with quality material. Most of the recipes use ingredients found in a typical kitchen. The others give cooks an opportunity to expand their horizons. The recipes are easy to follow, so everyone can join in the fun of creating and eating delicious pizzas. And who doesn't like pizza?

Just after receiving the book, I had it with me at a café. An acquaintance came over to say hello, saw Thursday Night Pizza among my things, and asked to see the book. He bought it and gave it to his daughter as a gift. Several months later I ran into him again, and he said his daughter just loves the book.

My children and I took to the kitchen to create a pizza using recipes from the book. We made the Sweet Crust in our bread machine, prepared the 8-Minute Pizza Sauce, and combined them to make a deep dish cheese pizza. We enjoyed sampling the crust and sauce during cooking, and when my 11 year old daughter took her first bite of the pizza she exclaimed, "Oh, this is delicious!"

Fr. Dominic Garramone's Thursday Night Pizza makes a wonderful gift for any occasion, including birthdays, holidays, thank-you, bridal shower, you're special, housewarming, thinking of you, in appreciation, or just because, or treat yourself! The book makes an ideal addition to anyone's cookbook collection.

5.0 out of 5 stars Only one problem! April 20, 2011

I am afraid that using the recipes in this book have turned me into a "pizza snob"! I love the pizzas that my husband and I are making at home so much that I turn up my nose when friends ask us to join them at a pizza joint! I am now shopping for another pizza stone so I can be baking in both ovens when family comes to dinner! I love Father Dominic's personality and non-preachy piety!
