Book Description

November 1, 2008
Tuesdays with Morrie meets Barefoot Contessa Parties!

Thursdays with Mom & Michael is a loving chronicle of Elaine Rosenberg's celebrated Thursday night dinner parties in Aspen, Colorado written by her daughter, Anita Rosenberg. A well-known and wildly popular Aspen tradition, Elaine's Thursdays with Mom & Michael events draw an eclectic and unique mix of guests who gather to share their similarities and differences over one of Elaine's beautifully-themed tables, and Chef Michael Rueggeberg's exquisite regionally-inspired cuisine. Thursdays with Mom & Michael is a sumptuous guide for aspiring hosts and hostesses who want to establish a dinner party tradition of their own.

Arranged by themes such as Birds of Paradise, Midnight in Morocco, and The Black & White Party and complete with stunning photographic layouts by esteemed Aspen photographer Karl Wolfgang, Thursdays with Mom & Michael is a daughter's loving tribute to her Mom's entertaining wisdom and home artistry, a four-star cookbook, as well as an elegant and evocative illustrated coffee table guide for anyone who wants to establish a weekly supper club of their own to celebrate family and friends.

Elaine treats her guests to a breath of the fresh French countryside with her Evening in Provence party, an Asian feast fit for an empress in her Buddha Bar theme, along with six other fabulous global settings. Anita illustrates, with loving attention to her mom's high sense of style and flair for unique and inspirational detail, every element of these successful theme parties, which have made Thursdays with Mom & Michael the hottest ticket in a very hot town.

Complete with fun and informative sidebars, special drinks of the night, recipes for Michael's globally-inspired cuisine, and everything you ever wanted to know about napkin rings, Thursdays with Mom & Michael is the perfect Mother's Day, seasonal holiday, hostess or anytime gift to encourage every member of the extended family to gather, celebrate, and cement a loving bond.

All author's proceeds are donated directly to The Breast Cancer Research Foundation founded by its president, Evelyn Lauder, of the Estee Lauder family.

Editorial Reviews

Review

You no longer need an invitation to witness one of the exclusive dinner parties thrown by consummate Aspen hostess Elaine Rosenberg. Thursdays with Mom & Michael makes you a guest of honor with stunning photographic layouts of her parties built around such themes as Birds of Paradise and Midnight in Morocco. With local celebrity chef Michael Rueggeberg by her side, Rosenberg, who decorates using a more is more philosophy, keeps readers engaged by highlighting her magnificent centerpieces and including Rueggeberg s globally inspired recipes.

So what are Elaine s tricks to hosting a spectacular party? Making it a family affair (with husband Marvin as the DJ), for one, and seating the men and women next to each other (because, says the party girl, a little flirtation never hurt anyone). A cancer survivor, Rosenberg has arranged for all proceeds from the book to go to the Breast Cancer Research Foundation. --Aspen Peak Magazine

I really enjoy the ease with which I can go to Amazon.com, type in a title and see a box at my door a few days later. The service is great and I do apprciate it. I still use my indipendant local book store when possible but when they cannot help me Amazon always can.

I want to be invited to the next dinner party, but since I don't live anywhere near Aspen, I'll make do by drooling over the luscious photographs by Karl Wolfgang. YUM!
