life in a small village,

I loved this book. Life in a small village should not be this interesting, but the author does such a wonderful job with the characters that they are easy to picture and get to know. Long after the story is finished, I wonder what the little group of gossipy ladies will be having for their tea and if the handicapped boy grows up to have an independent life. Feel that I know these people.
