Book Description

Golden Age Books June 1994
Thorough yet concise, this practical guide explains how assets are distributed after death. Divided into four convenient parts, it explains why a will is essential, outlines the specific features of a last will and testament, describes how an estate is administered and taxed, and offers helpful pointers on practical estate planning. Each stage of the discussion is enhanced by illustrative examples and specific provisions. The book includes a sample will and a valuable glossary of terms for quick reference.

Editorial Reviews

From Library Journal

This book covers not only the topics listed in the subtitle, but also being an administrator of someone's estate. While ostensibly for "older persons," it could be useful for any adult. Unlike Dennis Clifford's Nolo's Simple Will Book ( LJ 11/1/86) and his Plan Your Estate ( LJ 6/1/89), this work recommends using an attorney and is intended only as "general information." Nevertheless, there are numerous down-to-earth "sample situations" and "money-saving suggestions" sprinkled throughout the text. Although it gives living trusts short shrift and is not as tightly organized as Alexander Bove's The Complete Book of Wills and Estates ( LJ 6/1/89), this well-written book will be a good supplementary text for public library collections.
