The book was in good shape for a second-hand item, just as advertised. My only gripe is it took a month to arrive, but I was informed about that on beforehand.

Pure joy,

Somewhere in one of his typically understated essays, Primo Levi (like Natalia Ginzburg, a Levi with Turin connections), writes that it's unusual for the writer who enjoys his writing not to transmit at least some of that enjoyment to his readers. If so, then "la Ginzburg" must have had a great time writing __Ti ho sposato__, because it exudes joy from start to finish. I was captivated from the first exchange and I suddenly felt like translating it, for the fun of it. In other words, for the same reason that the husband of the play, as he is always reminding her, married his new wife. I haven't done the translation, and it may turn out that I never do, but the thought that I might yet is one of the things that makes life worth living.
