5.0 out of 5 stars Ambient Classic, April 5, 1999
This review is from: Tibetan Bells II (Audio CD)
Oh, I don't know about "not for the general public." I believe just about everybody could get into the quiet stillness of this music.

This album uses only bells, chimes and Tibetan singing bowls in very languid, slow-evolving zero-time compositions. Perfect for relaxation, meditation, & surrendering to the cosmic void.

Proves conclusively that synthesizers aren't necessary for ambient zone-outs. This album is Wolff/Hennings's best and an ambient classic.

5.0 out of 5 stars A very special CD for meditators and altered states, March 26, 1999

This review is from: Tibetan Bells II (Audio CD)
This CD will take you on a mind journey without any chemicals, this is NOT background music, but music that is designed to be listened to with good equipment or headphones, all of the Wolf/Hennings work is excellent, but the newest is better recorded. Not for the general public.

This review is from: Tibetan Bells II (Audio CD)
This album along with it's predecessor broke new ground in a variety of ways. The first album released at a time when Western music was becoming more complex could not have provided a more significant contrast with it's stark simplicity.

This, the second album by Henry Wolff and Nancy Hennings saw the light of day at the same time as punk was rejecting the pomp and complexity of modern rock and returning to the more simple rock'n'roll roots.

Listening to this album today using the newer technology of Compact Disc, the listener discovers a new realm of listening and experiential pleasure.

Whereas the vinyl album could convey soe of the recorded sound the CD captures much more. And, not only does the sound resonate much more but the space between the sounds is much sharper and clearer. The CD provides the listener with a vehicle with which to transcend the ordinary listening experience and carry one off to a higher plane.

As to the music itself there is a richness which defies description in words. It is evocative, it is soothing, it is ecstatic. It is all this and more.

Again this album would benefit from a remastering for DVD-audio.

Excellent

5.0 out of 5 stars Great for doing Eastern massage modalities., July 22, 2005
This review is from: Tibetan Bells II (Audio CD)
I have really enjoyed this whole series. The intensity and focus are just right for doing Eastern styles of massage like Shiatsu.
