5.0 out of 5 stars Get some Great Goddesses in your life
Some may think these pop-up books are corny but I am not one. Hey, this is all illusion anyway and what better religion than colorful and chaotic Tibetan Buddhism to help us see thru our creations. In any case, the world badly needs all the Goddesses it can get right now. So put this book up where everyone can see it. Then relax and breathe deeply...

3.0 out of 5 stars Informative but not inspirational
A slip accompanying this book suggests that the four "portable altars" will pop up to "Enhance Your Meditation Experience." Although the text gave me quite a bit of information about the four Buddhist Goddesses that popped up with the altars, there was little in the presentation that would "enhance" meditation. Bruce Foster's paper engineering is well done, as is the...

5.0 out of 5 stars Setting the Mood for Yoga, February 2, 2007
This review is from: Tibetan Buddhist Goddess Altars: A Pop-Up Gallery of Traditional Art and Wisdom (Hardcover)
This book is exactly as described. It is a lovely pop-up book for adults. There are beautiful 3-D cut-outs of Buddist Godesses, suggested mantras, and meanings. Although I probably would not travel with it because I have too much else to take, it is great for creating a nice and colorful yoga and meditation corner.

This Pop-Up Gallery is a wealth of information and visual enjoyment. Learn about Tibetan Buddhist Goddesses by setting up different altars in a Pop up style stage.
Very Unique.

Although the text gave me quite a bit of information about the four Buddhist Goddesses that popped up with the altars, there was little in the presentation that would "enhance" meditation. Bruce Foster's paper engineering is well done, as is the artwork from Robert Beer, and the textual material by Tad Wise is both interesting and informative.

5.0 out of 5 stars Nice Addition To Altar, February 8, 2011
This review is from: Tibetan Buddhist Goddess Altars: A Pop-Up Gallery of Traditional Art and Wisdom (Hardcover)
I bought this about a year ago as an add on, no big deal. However, it has become one of my favorite practice items. I originally thought oh a cute pop up book but it is so much more. I recommend this addition to anyone who practices meditation.

5.0 out of 5 stars Goddess gracious me!, January 15, 2010

This review is from: Tibetan Buddhist Goddess Altars: A Pop-Up Gallery of Traditional Art and Wisdom (Hardcover)
The 'book' consists of pop-up altars for White Tara, Red Tara, Vasudhara (six-armed form) and Vajrayogini. I found the imagery to be quite beautiful and inspirational. I was worried that the book would feel gimmicky, but that's not the case.

These are ideal altars if you don't have the space or resources for something grander. Also makes an unusual gift - two Wiccan friends (female) have been delighted.

I gave this as a gift to my son's girlfriend. Since she keeps an altar to the Goddess, I knew she would really appreciate it. I'm thinking of getting one for myself as well.
