Not for Sensory Processing Disorder or Tactile Defensiveness, August 16, 2009
This review is from: TicTacToe Handlinked Seamless Toe Ribbed Crew Socks , Three-Pack (See Sock Size Chart in Product Description) sizes Child to Adult (Apparel)
My 5 yr old has Sensory Processing Disorder (mostly tactile) and can't stand wearing socks with seams. I was hoping these were the answer, but unfortunately they are only a slight improvement over regular socks. We still end up having sock wars every morning getting ready for school (the dress code requires socks and sneakers) so I'm searching for others and I would love suggestions if anyone knows any socks that work.
These are not totally seamless and you do end up with a little bump on the side of the sock near the big toe. If this is a preference rather than a genuine sensory issue then these will probably be fine, but if you have a child that really needs seamless socks, keep looking.
UPDATE: After trying these (Tic Tac Toe) socks and Stride Rite's "seamless" socks (they aren't seamless), I finally found some that my son loves! They are called Smart Knit Kids and are a little pricey - about 5 to 7 dollars per pair but they last a long time and my son actually stays in them when he gets home from school. I just keep an eye out for sales and buy a bunch then. If your child is at the upper range in sizing, it's fine to go up a size since these stretch, stay up, and last quite a while. I bought both sizes since he was at the upper end of the range and the size larger worked great - this is important due to the expense since kids grow so quickly. He hasn't worn out a pair yet, and he's pretty rough on clothing. No more sock wars in our home!

No more complaining from my 7 year old son!, November 20, 2006
This review is from: TicTacToe Handlinked Seamless Toe Ribbed Crew Socks , Three-Pack (See Sock Size Chart in Product Description) sizes Child to Adult (Apparel)
My son has always had issues with socks being too scratchy or bumpy (one of his sensory integration issues) and every morning before school was a struggle to have them put on. Seamless socks were recommended and I saw these Tic Tac Toe long socks on Amazon and gave them a try. Wow, what a difference! The complaining has completely stopped, he loves wearing these! Enough said!

Greatly Rewarded, January 24, 2009

I totally agree...Mornings were murderous to get socks on my daughter. Then Ta Da ....enter these socks. Seamless socks were recomended to me by an instructor of mine during a psychology class when we discussed sensory issues. I decided that I was not going to pay for high priced socks just to try one time and her never even wear them past the trying on stage. So I shopped on line until I found these. I bought only a few pair and was I ever glad that I bought more than one package. She tried them on and she loves them. She has worn most of them out, and I am now needing to buy her more. I am glad that these worked for her. It not only healped her but everyone in our household. We all benefit from the peace that these socks have brought to our home each morning. Not to mention...they are very reasonably priced compared to most of the others that I discovered during my online quest for seamless socks.
