5.0 out of 5 stars QUESTION FOR LONE BULL:, June 14, 2009
This review is from: No Ticket Required [VHS] (VHS Tape)
Lone Bull --

This is a GREAT SHOW - someone put some of the songs up on youtube - i seem to remember this being a one hour hbo special - is it the same show - this seems like the same one but expanded - i wonder if any of the song selections were changed - and it seems as if some musical overdubs were added - particularly the electric guitar IN THE AIR TONITE at tthe beginning - i also seem to remember DONT LOSE MY NUMBER being in the hbo version - am i right on any of this?
david.

5.0 out of 5 stars Excellent Concert, November 15, 2007

I remember seeing this come out on laserdisc in the early 90's and I almost bought a laserdisc player just to watch it. I couldn't afford it though & figured i'd probably never get to see this show. Fortunately, a few years later it came out on VHS. Once I finally found a copy, it quickly became one of my favorite concerts of all time. Being a longtime fan of Phil Collins, I own every one of his videos & albums and although all of his videos are great, this one really takes the cake and is one of those concerts that I wish I could've been at. Filmed in 1985 at Reunion Arena in Dallas, this show highlights mostly hits from the "No Jacket Required" album but it has several songs from his first 2 solo albums as well. If you're a big fan of NJR this is definitely the concert to see cuz it contains more songs from that album than any other tour. It is also one of his very best concerts showing Phil & his band in top form and they play superbly. This concert is topped only by the "But Seriously" video which was twice as long and had twice as many songs. But this video is still very worthwhile cuz you'll get to hear hits done differently and a couple of rarities as well. I really loved the way "Sussudio" sounds here with it's cool disco type beat & the mellow and romantic "One More Night" has never sounded better. "In the Air Tonight" is probably the highlight though cuz it shows Phil drumming & singing with fire & conviction like i've never seen him do before. My only complaint is that it's missing key hits from that time. Songs like: "Don't lose my number", "Doesn't anybody stay together" & "I missed again" could've easily been added in place of the overly long band introductions. Other than that, the songs are performed to perfection and Phil & the band look like they're really enjoying themselves which is always a plus. There are also a few rare gems such as: "Like China" & "Behind the Lines" which are always great to hear. All in all, this is an excellent concert & one that any passionate fan should own.

4.0 out of 5 stars Phil At The Top, August 4, 2010
This review is from: No Ticket Required [VHS] (VHS Tape)
This is Phil at the height of his game and career. Great concert but too bad it's on crummy VHS which takes away a bit of really feeling like your there.

Would love to see a blu-ray version of this.
