I've been a fan of Antibalas' hard hitting political sound for years. This is as laid back as Antibalas is agressive. Excellent, well rounded sound will not disappoint!

A brandnew releae from Easy Star records on october 15 2007: Ticklah vs. Axelrod. Even if you haven't heard his name, you've probably heard Axelrod's contributions to dozens of familiar projects. He was co-producer and keyboardist on Dub Side of the Moon. Is a key member of the Afrobeat collective Antibalas, and as an original memeber of Sharon Jones and the Dap-Kings, Axelrod is known for nailing grooves. His session work with Mark Robinson has put him on tracks by Lily Allen, Robbie Williams and Amy Whinehouse.

You might call this album a dub album, but it's more than just dub. You'll also find some real roots songs (with the vocals of Rob Symeonn and Mikey General) and salsa combined with reggae and dub with the vocals of Mayra Vega. Vinia Mojica also features on some tracks. She is known for her work with De La Soul and A Tribe Called Quest.

My favorite songs are Porkeater and Rescue Me - true roots reggae!

This music is as smooth as a Stockton-Malone pick and roll. Nasty like Stockton & strong like Malone. Warm sonics, sultry grooves & creativity from a master mind.

There's deep dub & sexy latin sounds. Mesmerizing vocals. And even a song featuring animal sounds for nature lovers like me.

Get this.. you won't regret this.

This is a good cd that I discovered on a Direct TV music channel. While wouldn't recommend Direct TV to anyone...(thats another story), I would recommend this cd. Turns out this group is "affiliated" with Easy Star All Stars of the Dub Side of The Moon, a great great album. After visiting their website, I have also discovered Basterd Jazz(sp) and Romanowski(sp) and a song called The Instigator - Fun fun stuff! As for Ticklah vs, there is IMO, quite a mix of styles including a latin sound on a couple. Thats what attracted me originally. There is one particular song about not eating pork, which(no offense) isn't quite my thing, and might be a reason I wouldn't play this cd straight through for some folks..., but overall, I would recommend this! Glad I bought it. Hope they do more!

Thank you Ticklah, not many people are putting out reggae like this anymore, and none of it sounds nearly as good as Ticklah's. An excellent follow up to his last record, Roots Combination.

It has been so long since Ticklah's last release and it appears he has been hard at work - leaving no angle unexamined. This music is full of balance and will impart this feeling on your mind and body. You will also be singing some of therse hooks for the rest of your life. It is an incredible record. It has lived in my CD player for 3 weeks. In world full of "impressive" and flashy production thats tells you how to think- this record opens dimensions that let you observe and swim through the fabric of sound and rhythm.

There are a lot of bad reggae being made right now. Each time I hear some I am forced to imagine poor Bob Marley rolling over in his grave. THIS IS NOT ONE OF THOSE MOMENTS!!

Producer/musician Victor Axelrod last album "Dub Side of the Moon" introduced his take on reggae to a whole new audience. By all accounts, a dub/reggae version of Pink Floyd's "Dark Side of the Moon" sounds like a nightmare. In his hands it was turned into a piece of art. His follow-up "Ticklah VS. Axelrod", is yet another groundbreaking musical masterstroke.

Listen to the samples and you will be amazed.

This is one of the best CDs I've bought in a long time. Fabulous.

I bought this album because I'd heard Nature Dub on the radio (KEXP), thinking that this was a dub album. It's a mix of Dub, Roots Rock and Latin/Dub. The Dub and Latin/Dub are good, but the Roots Rock portions are extremely generic, and awefully boring. I'd like to see one solid theme for an album, but since this is a Vs. album (ie. the producer's battling personalities), it makes sense. It just had no cohesion and only a few songs worth paying money for.

This album is solid. I've listened to it over and over since I got it a couple of days ago. It gets better every time. Don't miss out!
