One More Time, Please,
By
This review is from: Tickly Octopus (Hardcover)
This is a cute, fun story with bright and colorful illustrations. I just bought this book for my 2 1/2 year old daughter. She really enjoys it, and I enjoy reading it to her - which is a good thing since she always wants me to read it "one more time, please".

Excellent Choice!,

This is my grandson's favorite book! I bought it to read to him when he was about 18 mos old. Six months later he is still requesting it every night and "reads" it on his own, too, almost every day. The colors are bright and full of his favorite sea creatures which hold his interest. There are not so many words that I get tired of reading, and the pages can be torn but not easily. It was beginning to get worn from frequent toddler exploration, so we recently purchased a second Tickly Octopus to make sure he never has to be without it.

I bought this for my two girls, ages 4 and 6. Living in Hawaii, we have first hand knowledge of the octopus (tako). They enjoyed seeing the octopus learn about its different "powers". The illustrations were energetic and engaging.

I took a chance on getting this book, thinking it would be as wonderful as Smily Shark. MISTAKE. This story is about an octopus that likes to tickle other fish. He tickles an oyster and he drops his pearl way deep in the ocean. The octopus learns he has great skills by having to squeeze himself through narrow passages in the ocean to reach the pear (that's the moral). However, there are some seriously scary pictures of a catfish and some other animals that he faces as he goes deeper in the ocean. I didn't even like the pictures myself. Needless to say, I only read it once and will probably donate the book. Make sure you see the pages in the book befor you purchase it. Smily Shark is the best I think.

Very colourful, a cute and positive story,
This review is from: Tickly Octopus (Hardcover)
This book is very lively, bright and colourful we got it from the library for my 2 year old son who loves reading and we both liked it so much, I may just order it for him. As children get older, say around 3-5 they will understand the message of the book which is that if we are determined and put effort into a task, we discover that we actually have many more talents than we originally thought. This is told in a very sweet, simple way that young children can relate to and enjoy.

We got this book for my two year old nephew for Christmas because he loves anything and everything Octopus and runs all around the house yelling "Octopus!" He was engaged right away with the beautiful illustrations and bright colors in the book! My older daughter, who is six years old, has always loved the Ruth Galloway books. They keep a little one interested and excited in the story!

Title: Tickly Octopus
Author:Ruth Galloway Illustrator: Ruth Galloway Hardback: 14 pages Publisher: Tiger Tales Publishing 2007 ISBN-10: 1-58925-064-8 ISBN-13: 978-1-58925-064-2 Ages: 4 & up Review: Octopus is a happy creature in the sea. He loves to tickle the little fish and make them jiggle, wiggle and giggle. It is tons of fun. But not all of the creatures he attempted to tickle liked it. Clackety crab tripped and stumbled. Starfish squirmed. And when Octopus tickled Oyster and woke him up and his precious pearl was swept away by the current. It soon became Octopus' mission to save the lost pearl. He learned that he could whoosh and swoosh. He could swim really deep and could crawl into really small spaces. There were so many cool things that Octopus could besides tickling. But you will have to read the story to see if he gets Oyster back the precious pearl.
