I absolutely love these pencils. I owned similar large-format pencils when I was just a boy, and as an adult, I still find them to be excellent.

First off, I have pretty large hands, and the feel of these pencils is actually more comfortable than an ordinary pencil, which I find to cramp my hand after extended use.

Second, because there is more wood protecting the pencil, as well as more graphite in the pencil itself, I find that these pencils are less susceptible to breakage and require sharpening less often.

Third, this pencil is ideal for anyone who needs a reliable pencil that performs through the duration of long examinations (e.g., SAT, LSAT, MCAT). Not only are these pencils reliable in terms of longevity of use and resistance to breakage, they also have an extra large eraser in case you have the need to make extensive erasures (hopefully not, but you never know!).

My First Ticonderoga is my ONLY Ticonderoga!

I was a curator of photographs for nearly a decade in the museum setting, and while in graduate school, I was trained using the museum archival standards of the George Eastman House/International Museum of Photography. When dealing with photographs, or other archival materials, the Ticonderoga #2 pencil was "The Museum Standard" for marking on paper objects, based on the archival stability of the graphite and the quality of the pencil, so the Ticonderoga #2 has ALWAYS been my pencil of professional and personal choice. Most other pencils are quite lame by comparison - soft, breakable lead, poor wood casing which sharpened unevenly. A friend had several packs of the "My First" T#2s, and I loved receiving them as a gift after their project. Same pencil as my professional model, just bigger, and they are a hoot to use. Somebody with a small hand would be out of place, but these are big, durable, fun to use pencils which sport the same solid quality as the regular T#2s from my professional days. They will last a long time with the big leads, and feel great in the hand. Granted, I'm most entertained because, like all of us, I first learned to write with a big green pencil, and these are similar. As objects, you really feel like you've got a serious writing instrument when you pick one of these up. It probably won't change your life, but if you want to impress those many pencil buffs in your life, this will make them all envious - they will know that you are serious about the pencils in your life. Honestly, a great writing instrument for just over a buck. When can you have this much lasting enjoyment for one dollar and change? An experiential bargain. People will know that you are serious about life. The 'Carhartt' of the pencil world.

The pencils allow for better griping and allow my four yr/old boy to concentrate on writing rather than keeping his pencil in his hands

I received the pencils on time. They are of good quality and just perfect for kids that need extra grip. The eraser is also perfect. I recommend this pencil.

These always write so smooth and dark and erase well. The primary size is no exception to that. I bought this package because the larger package had no sharpener and since I can no longer find primary sized pencils or sharpeners locally I had to have this package as well.

I wish I had learned about these pencils earlier...I have four kids but only the last two got to enjoy them. It helped my 4 and 6-year-olds write better easier. The sharpener is a bit small and can be easily misplaced. I found that some dollar stores have these larger caliber sharpeners for only $1.

I love huge pencils for writing. I took these with me to college and set one on my ear to show it off. These work great for kids too. LOL.

I use these for marking fabrics to cut for quilts. They leave a slightly broader line, so you have to keep them sharp. But they do a really good job and pass smoothly across the fabrics. Lovely.
