Product Description

The Tidy Cats Breeze Litter Box controls odors in your home and features a pull out tray which holds disposable cat pads that absorb urine and lock in odor. Instead of using traditional clay litter, this system uses specially designed cat friendly litter pellets which are 99.9% dust free and anti-tracking. These litter pellets allow urine to pass through while leaving the solid waste on top for quick, easy removal. The urine is quickly absorbed by an odor-controlling pad in a protective tray. The Tidy Cats Breeze Litter Box comes with 1 Scoop, 1 bag of litter pellets and 4 cat pads.

I've been searching for a better way to deal with litter without spending hundreds of dollars for a long time. I lucked out and got one of the hundred dollar self cleaners at a garage sale, but my cat was afraid of it, and it really didn't do that good of a job. It was constantly getting stuck, even with the recommended litters.

I tried Crystal litter too, and I really liked the concept, but my larger cat seemed to overpower them and leave a yucky slush after a few days use, no matter how often I redistributed the crystals. What it seemed like I needed was something like this - a pan with a diaper to collect liquids.

I read all the reviews and a lot of people complained that their cat wouldn't use the pellets, but since my cat had never been finicky I decided to give the Breeze system a try.

I followed the directions and mixed in my cats normal litter with the pellets and everything seemed to be going great. I loved it! solids on top, liquids on the bottom, and my cat (who is 15 now) no longer had bits of litter stuck to his paws. However, after a few weeks, I noticed he wasn't using the box anymore...my cat who has never gone outside his litterbox had decided that a small pile of sawdust in the workshop was a better place to go than the pellets...eeeew.

But, I'm happy to say I found a solution and I hope it helps anyone with a cat that wont use this. Since the slats in the top part were too wide to keep my crystal litter from falling through, I simply cut out a piece of window screen (the plastic kind, not metal) and hot glued it over the bottom.

That was it! I now use the Tidy Cats Crystal litter instead of the pellets, change the diaper once a week and the litter once a month. It's been about a year now, and the cat has dry paws and has not gone outside the litterbox again!

Love this thing. Sound strategy to tackle significant problems usually involves "divide and conquer". This box does that with your cat's waste.
We have used standard litter boxes, the Omega Paw Self-Cleaning Litter Box, Large, Green and Beige , the LitterMaid -electric boxLitterMaid LME9000 Elite Mega Advanced Automatic Self-Cleaning Litter Box , the litter box planter, Hidden Litter Box (20" x 20")and now this. The Tidy Cats Breeze Litter box out does them all by not only changing the way you collect the waste, but also changing the litter you use. These two changes, in my opinion, make it more environmentally friendly, easier to maintain and much more tolerable when you must have your litter box within your own living quarters.

Pros
+ divides and conquers the solid and liquid waste allowing for easy and timely removal (solid waste tends to sit in plain view so you don't have to dig for buried treasure)
+ can also be used with Pine Pellets instead of Tidy Cats clay pellets (perfect size)-> pine is a natural urine odor eliminator. I followed another reviewers advice and I couldn't thank them enough! When urinated on- the pine pellets kill the ammonia fumes and turn to sawdust. A gentle shake of the box allows the sawdust to fall through to the tray below, allowing the solid/dry/unused pellets to remain on top. We use these Feline Pine Original Cat Litter, 20-Pound Bag, following the same directions as if they were the clay pellets.
+ can also be used with generic chuck pads instead of Tidy Cats pads. If you purchase these, you can cut them in half and they are the same size as the Tidy Cats pads: Champion Blue Disposable Underpads (Chux), 17 x 24, Case/100 (4/25s) . Note: When using pine pellets, the pad in my tray is only really used to collect semi-moist saw dust. I'm not sure these would work as well with the clay pellets.

Cons-
- tray doesn't always slide as easily as I would like it
- there is no bottom under the tray- so if the tray is full and you spill it- it's going on your floor
- box is not as discreet as I would like it (see the hidden litter box link above)
- the litter pellets will never be as soft on your cats paws as clay/sand <-- I think this made our cat somewhat reluctant to switch.
- I still find pine pellets around the house here and there- but if they're dry, I know they're unused and can be chucked back into the box !

**The combination of this box used with the pine pellets has left us with NO urine smell- I never thought I would see the day! Sure, she drops a stinky load every now and again, but that doesn't stick around for long ;) Get this box, it's great!

Finally! April 24, 2010
We are a household of nine cats. I bought one of these at Wal Mart thinking, "I'll try anything to help with the litter problem." Within a couple days I knew I'd struck gold! I immediately got on Amazon and order four more. There is NO ODOR with this litter box. None. Zilch. It works like a dream...it's easy to maintain and I've not had any cat "hold outs." They all were interested in getting in there and trying it out. Even our most picky litter-box user has used this litter box. Initially I was hesitant to try this because of the extra cost involved with the pellets and pads, etc. But let me tell you...if you have a multiple cat household, you must give this a try! It's worth its weight in gold. Once a week I change the pad that catches the urine and even that is seriously...no pun intended...A BREEZE. The pad pretty much slides out on its own...squirt/squirt with some glass cleaner...wipe out with paper towel...you're done. Even poop-scooping is easy. No smell, no digging into clumped-up clay...it takes just a minute to keep up with the poop. No mess, no fuss, no hassle. This product is so appropriately named because everything about it is truly...A BREEZE!
